Naturaly.....hence my frustration with some of the Canadian guns laws that make it harder for honest hunters to acuire firearms.

Ever heard of a drive by shooting with a rifle or shotgun? It's all stolen/smuggled-or-otherwise-illegal handguns and automatics ('I don't care what anyone sayd, an Uzi is not a hunting weapon'- something I either heard, read or saw on TV.)

Have y'all ever noticed that everyone on this forum who tries to debate the US gun ownership are not residents of the USA? If it is such a bad system then why are we satisfied with it?

Well in that case have more strict country-entering policies and better security.

it is ironic that in the us cities with the most restrictive gun policys , the amount of incidents with armed criminals preying on hapless citrizens is at a much higher rate than in cities where concealed carrie permits are easy for non felons to obtain ..ie. in NY even visiting out of town police officers are prohibited from carrieing their own off duty weapons ...this helps to make the streets safe for homeboy ny criminals should they wish to assault or rob a deputy or state trooper from iowa or kentucky ...extra safe ..like virginia tech disarming their own campus police and creating a gun free zone !...lol

The reason for violent crimes is because of hatred and a lack of respect for fellow citizens. This is a problem with society and not a gun problem. These thugs will do whatever it takes to arm themselves.

    .

I'm sure Mac Donald ,Coca-Cola and General Motor killed more Americans than all the guns .

It concerns me because most of the guns involved in our guncrime come from the USA. Actually, there is a gun problem, and many americans are not satisfied with the gun laws, especially in the inner cities. We have the same problem, but to a lesser degree

    CSP;

I was referring to the members of the forum. None of the Americans here debate for more gun control.

As for the inner cities, they are rotten because that is how the folks who live there want it to be. There are some who strive for better but many are satisfied with it and others just don't care.

    A little change of subject

A little while ago I heard Gordon Brown, on BBC breakfast say this when questioned about increasing gun crime in the UK

"We solved handgun crime in the UK when we banned them back in '97"

I'm sorry Mr. Brown but did you ****.

Handgun crime in Britain as has been since the permit system has been introduced was almost always done with illegal firearms.

People always say to me when I mention that I think that Britain should keep its current licensing system but relax on what they restrict us to have, that why do I want/need a full-auto/semi-auto rifle or handgun or SMG, my answer why not, it's fun.

Shooting is an enjoyable sport to alot of people and a variation of firearms allows it to be put to it's full potential.

Another reason is, shooting is a sport almost anyone can do, two of my closest shooting companions are disabled, one of them used to have a Straight-Pull conversion of a .223 M16, bu struggled with it because of his disability has damaged his arms, now if he was allowed a Semi-Auto .223 M16 then he could participate in long range competions.

well thats the longest post I have done in awhile, if anyone is un-sure about the British firearm laws then I will do my best to enlighten you as much as possible.

You could probably find statistics that would back up your statement. If so,we should ask the anti-gun crowd if those should be banned as well.

In my personal opinion, public safety outweighs personal pleasure, but my opinions are always biased.

Believe me when i say it is impossible no matter your will. the only gun someone can buy from is out of the country.Bringing them back would mean the gallows for them.

But it is still possible. Guns can be smuggled just as easily as drugs can and every nation has a problem with drug crime.

If you read my post more carefully you will notice that I mention that gun crime in the UK is commited almost exclusvely by ILLEGAL firearms, not legally owned ones.

For example, in my Constabulary, If I even commited a Motoring offense, such as speeding, I may have my Firearms and Shotgun Certificate revoked, so as a result I oey the law as closely as possible as with almost every legal firearm owner in the UK.

So in the UK it is almost possible to say that, Legal firearm ownersip with our current system works, so those who can own guns should be allowed to have a wider variation as they have proven themselves safe with guns

Have you ever noticed that every American on this forum votes Republican? In fact, come to think of it, I have never met a Democrat on the internet anywhere. Still they are supposed to make up something like half the population of the US...
