View attachment 14101 Hi everyone, I was hoping to get some more info on this. I hit it with a black light and it doesn't glow. How rare are these? What are they worth? I'm going to be leaving for the long weekend so if I don't respond right away that's why. Any help is appreciated! Best regards, Pierce
I only have one of them and I bought it from a trusted source. I certainly don't know all of the people to look out for, but I know enough to stay away from our "friends" in Lithuania.
The only HJ flag bearers patch that I would want in my collection is the patch with the 'flat' top of the HJ diamond. This is the only version that I have seen personally removed from a 100% period uniform. The fakers have been sewing these to period uniform material and 'cutting' the patches away...trying to 'sell' them as 'uniform removed' pieces. I am not saying that all of the HJ flag bearers patches have to have the 'flat' top to the diamond...but all of my years of experience along with conversations with noted HJ authors tell me to stay away from the non 'flat' diamond top patches. Just my .02 cents.... Rich
You are so right .This patch is obviously new and has never been sewed anywhere and I wouldn't believe the usual "it was found in opa's attic" version.
another striking detail if needed : the original top horizontal line has 4 layers of wowen cloth, the fake has only 3.
to be honest, personally i tend to stay away from the HJ stuff period, as there are so many incredible looking repops out there.
