Recently, some one sent me a SS tunic with the rank of sturmbanfuhrer, and a book fell out. but it wasn't suppose to be included. It looks like the real thing. and i'm starting to think that this SS tunic is real thing. but the front says Soldbuch zugleich personalausweis and the back says Goldbucher durfen nur durch das zuftandige wehrkeiskommando bezogen werden druck und detrieb durch privatfirmenist strengsteu untersagt
I assume the one you have looks like one of those shown. Although the SS had their own version of the soldbuch cover there were instances where the Heer (Army) version (the second one shown) was used. I have a soldbuch to an SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer who won the RKT & DKiG and he carried the Heer version. Soldbuch zugleich personalausweis basically means 'Paybook as well as Identity Document' It contained alot of the soldiers details ranging from where he was born and what his religion was to his units, times spent in hospitals, medals awarded etc I have had a look through all the soldbucher in my collection and I can't find any that have anything on the outside of the back cover, but I think the second part just says that soldbucher can only be obtained via the Wehrkreis Command and that only private companies were allowed to print it (maybe a German speaking member can provide a more accurate translation of that.)
heres one with english translation of wording hucks.. http://www.soldbuchweb.com/sbpg02.htm this is home page link, some good links too. http://www.soldbuchweb.com/index.htm
Military pasport serves also as ID and the back says : golden books are to be altered by the appropiate defence command only . Copying or alteration by a civilian (firmenist -shopholder or civil servant ?) is stricktly forbidden .. You ve found a soldbuch , you can compare it to a Military pasport
