Yes, you guessed right - it was a 'toilet' in name only - in reality it was the location of his transatlantic telephone.

    PMN1 - your turn.

    Good question Ricky :)

I guess my Churchill story will have to wait, as it wasn't a toilet after all!

The only right answer is the counterquestion "Do you mean an African or a European swallow?" :D

What incident nearly caused the Goons as we know them never to form?

Why does PMN1 lack the control needed to wait for someone to answer his quiz question before posting another? ;)

    Goon question.

Spike Milligan (a.k.a Gunner Milligan) first met Harry Seacombe in N.Africa in 1943. As far as I know, Harry came through the war unscathed. Spike, however had the misfortune to get "Stonked" whilst out on a mission to repair a field telephone connection to an O.P (as I recall) This resulted not only in physical injuries, but also in severe shellshock, the effects of which he battled with to his dying day.
So my answer is that "Jerry" nearly killed off Spike, before he could write a single Goon show script.

At a demonstration of Pykrete (basically very strong ice - there is a topic on it in here somewhere, run a search for 'pykrete'), somebody shot it with a revolver to show how strrong it was. The bullet riccoched and narrowly missed King.

There was that one but its not the one i'm thinking of - Milligan, Seacombe and physics were all involved in it.

Why do impossible quizzes always involve personalities whereas "normal" quizzes are about events and vehicles?

Next clue - it involved one of the guns in Milligan's unit.

I remember an incident where somebody's gun fell off a cliff, but I thought that was seacombe's gun, and that was how the 2 met...

It was one of Milligan's guns - the recoil sent it flying back either down a steep slope or according to most records (including Milligan's books) over a cliff narrowly missing Harry Seacombe in his truck or tent (most records including Milligan's books).

I can picture Seacombe's comments now 'Is this your gun??' :D
