I am willing to give these to a deserving collector who could use them in their display. Not wanting to give them to someone who will turn around and sell them (not that they are worth a lot) Just let me know.

    thanks for the link
Reading the story at the link made it easy to envision a balcony in Nice where the soldiers were throwing bottles and cig butts out. Probably a pretty wild time. I notice the Time story was written just prior to Hitler and Mussolini's death. The end of the war was near. Did the British forces have a similar place to relax?

    with 2 Assault Arrow Heads
    Bronze Arrowhead (Model #:901 DBAD)

Thought the arrowheads looked funny--should be only one per campaign ribbon. Oh, the American Campaign should be ahead of the Asiatic Pacific.
My book shows the American Typhus Commission ribbon as being yellow in the center and purple on each side--each area being equal, don't think that's it. I'll do some digging.

ilpotatoes, These ribbons are eating me alive, but I enjoy a mystery. Can you give some information on where you got the Class A jacket with the ribbons--is it from someone you know? If the one is the American Typhus Commission ribbon it would be American and go before the foreign awards. Jaguwar is right about the one looking like the Colorado NG Achievement Ribbon, the center on the second row up has the same colors as the Colorado NG Meritorious Conduct Ribbon, but the spacing is wrong.

That is what I found as well but I also noticed the spacing issue so I didn't mention it.

Hey Gents, I was just wondering at how many of you out there, have Iron Crosses of differing grades and ages and how many you have in your collections? If you wish to spot off about it? this is a great time to tell ;-))

For me, my small collection includes:

    One 1914 EKI.
Three 1939 EKIs one is cased.
One 1957 Knights Cross (for now)
    One 1957 EKII.
    One 1957 Wiederholungsspange.
One 1939 EKII Wiederholungsspange for the 1914 EKII.
    And, around 24, 1914 & 1939 EKIIs.
    One, 1870 EKII.

Of these: one of my 1939 EKIIs has a Brass core. Two of my 1939 EKIIs have the "so-called" Austrian-style Trifold ribbon. I also have one War Merit Cross w/ Swords 2ncd Class with Trifold. I just barely missed out (DAMMIT) on a Frozen Meat Medal w/ Trifold.

What do you guys have? and im positive my collection will be dwarfed by you IAB Gurus, and possibly others

Hi Carl, you've got more than me. I've got a Meybauer EK1
    EK2'S
    "93"
    "55"
    K&Q
And about three more unmarked, tops. I only like EK's if they're part of groupings (I had to draw the line somewhere:rolleyes::(). Stewy

Anyone here on the forum ever dealt with one of these?

On the pic you can see three large and one smaller belt clasps bearing the the two sig runes of the SS . The 3 larger ones are red copper made , the smaller one is in bronze .Made in a for Germans very symbolic oak leaf shape ..

Done a lot of research over these in the past years and from bits an pieces know pretty well what they are by now .
They're as rare as a snowball in hell ..in my opinion the larger copper ones are propably just 'copies' of the smaller one in bronze , but the bronze is a 100% original relic .

Before we get many reply's saying I think this or I think that , i'm not interested in unfounded opinions. Need some facts on this one i'm afraid.
Please dont tell me you think they're trench art ..as theyre not.
Even though the larger ones are propably copies they were made after a real example and in my opinion only show from the back that they are indeed copies .
Anyone who knows what these really are will have a pretty good idea what to expect on the backsides also so I wont post any pics of their backs here nor will I mention a name here .

What I am looking for is old pictures of SS officers actually wearing one or someone who can (and will) tell me a bit more about the leaves .

I know already who was the previous owner and what action he received the clasp for , just a pity I haven't found a pic of him yet actually wearing it . (The original owner was a very well known WW2 personality and he lost it during a world famous action ..it was found clearing out the inside of an old U.S. vehicle left after the battle of the Bulge in Luxemburg in the late sixties already . As the name meant nothing to the guy who found it,it went in a dark drawer not to appear for another 4 decades )
I have no reasons to doubt this old guy's story about how he obtained the clasp whatsoever , he's an old skool US WW2 vehicle enthousiast and the clasp traded hands for just a few beers..

Wondering very much what info will come up from here ..but as the SS at this level was a sworn-to-secrecy bunch (ring bearers only!) I think not so much ,but please do feel free to PM me for a chat about them..

Anyway ..as this is not the regular cup-a-tea stuff from a Osprey booklet I think you will all enjoy the pics .;)

    I only have the 1, I'm afraid - a 2nd Class ring-stamped '55' which I bought many years ago.

But it is an 'Iron Cross' and as such is a collection must-have, rather like a Luger or MP40......:)
