J.D. Tippett was shot with an semi-automatic pistol. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested with a revolver....

Guys, Oswald was arrested for Tippetts murder. He clearly could not have perpetrated the crime. Simple really.

False, it was a revolver. Wouldn't matter at any rate, the ballistics were a match.

Look, it doesn't change anything. The Government, as Dean Andrews said, "Is still breathing. Kennedy is as dead as crabmeat...." The facts are, that knowledge of the real reasons for his murder will not change a damned thing. Lee Oswald will never have his day in court, and Jack Ruby will never have to explain exactly why Oswald needed to be eliminated.

I will still be a supporter of the United States of America. I have no illusions about that.

But I'm not going to be 'one eyed' either. A successful Democracy must be brought into existense by individuals enacting the tenants of that wonderful document, "The Declaration of Independence." It starts with you as an individual, supporting your government, but at the same time, retaining our sense of intellectual and moral freedom that the constitution guarantees.

I'm one that looks at each conspiracey theory on its own merits, rather than just making blanket statement about the essential idiocy of conspiracey theories.

I am on record here as...1/ Suppoeting the site, (and you Opana) by attempting to debunk "Pearl Harbor" Con theories...
2/ I'm veheminantly opposed, by REASON, to the idea that 9/11 was a conspiracy BUT...

This does not stop me from reading Jim's book and realizing that this patriotic public servant had something real, and honest, to convey to the public at large.

You should be thanking people like him,....they guarantee your democratic freedoms. Someone has to watch the watchers....

I've known nuts who were in custody of nuclear weapons. They weren't as crazy then as they were later, "functioning lunatic".

Ah...no...The officer on the scene noted that the cartridge cases found at the Tippett murder scene had EJECTOR MARKS on them. A revolver does not leave such marks, so it could NOT have been Oswald...

Ballistics were not tested, thankyou very much. The original shell casings, with the officers scratch marks on them, were lost and never found. The arresting officer was unabble to identify his own marks on the shell casings presented to him...

READ the damned book. I read that baby from cover to cover several dozen times. It sat in my toilet for six months, and every argument you can come up with concerning that book, I can explain from reading it.

So, next myth to dispel is?....We've proven the Dallas Police Department has a lot to answer for...

Is there any possibility that you would accept evidence that LHO worked alone?

A government employee like Oswald would not be working alone. His "handlers", George De Morenschildt, and Janet and Bill Williams were all classified. Oswalds other 'handlers', Clay Shaw and David Ferrie, were also government 'workers' for the Agency.

These people 'arranged' for Lee to be working at the book Depository, to begin with, and got him his job at the Reilly Coffee Company, just up from Bannisters office. All these people claimed no associations with Oswald, or were like Morenschildt, burying his reputation before the various Commitees. If Oswald was a 'loner', how did a relatively penniless man get to move in the circles of the Dallas Petroluem Club? Great personal charm? NO! Oswald had connections, and any idea of him being a loner dissappear with those connections.

You Right Wing Warriors just will not be swayed!

Garrison was a patriot, too, you know, and fought for the country. What better credentials do you need from a governemnt critic?

I'm a liberal. One of them there Obama-lovin' hippies.
Sigh. Argument from authority. You should read up on logical fallacies, it would save us all time.

Bottom line is you don't have to be cuckoo to have doubts. You can be an ordinary citizen.

There is no question some government agencies were conducting business on a free lance basis. I understand why, it was as I said a chaotic time in America's history. We took a vow to halt Communist aggression throughout the world. However, during their time in power Hoover with the FBI and Dulles with the CIA ran their agencies without reins. The Church Committee of 1975 took a retrospective look into such activities and the results were shocking. The fact that our US Government was association with such shady characters and criminal elements was shocking. So shocking that volumes upon volume remain sealed to this day !

AARC Public Library - Church Committee Reports

I will say that after this episode in our history, the USA became a better country. We went back to our roots as a government run by the people, for the people. My late mother once said, "If America can make it through 1968, we can make it through anything".

Dallas comes off as being a particularly corrupt establishment when it comes to law enforcement in 1963. I believe that still lingers in the minds of the American people. Not sure whether modern residents of Dallas feel the same way. It's still a place I would very much like to visit before I die, even if it is just to make the walk at Dealy Plaza, like all battlefield tours, walking the ground, favorite book on the subject in hand, the soft click of the camera and the hot wind of Dallas blowing in on a clear, sunshiney day....

Sounds like a great day out to me!

nothing less than a point by point discussion will do. Good topic, lots of info crossovers....great history....

Lads, I'll spell it out for you. I'm sitting up here at 2 in the morning, so make it at least a little bit interesting to justify the arguments I will get from my wife tomorrow morning for not coming to bed....etc etc...and so on...

Nearly all the “points” you are trying to make here are debunked over and over, year by year. And yes, the weapon all the witnesses saw LHO shoot Tibbets with was a revolver.

    9.6 The Tippit Murder

9.6.1 Officer Tippit's killer was unidentified.

False. Numerous witnesses identified Oswald as the man they saw ei-
ther shooting Tippit or fleeing the scene:

Benavides. Was driving a pickup toward shooting scene; heard three
shots; saw Tippit fall from 15 feet away; saw gunman empty gun and
throw shells into bushes; retrieved two empty shells from bushes; testi-
fied that photo of Oswald bore resemblance to man who shot Tippit.

Callaway. Manager at used car lot; heard five shots; saw man with re-
volver held high pass across the street; about police lineup said, "when
he [Oswald] came out I knew him."

Davis, B. & V. Lived on corner near shooting; heard gunfire and
screaming; ran to door in time to see man with gun cut across corner
lawn; saw gunman shake shells out of gun; found two empty shells on
ground; about lineup, B Davis said, "I was positive that was the one
[Oswald] I seen," and V Davis said, "I would say that was him [Os-
    wald] for sure."

Guinyard. Porter at used car lot; heard three shots; saw man with gun
pass within 10 feet; about lineup said, "I told them that was him [Os-
wald] right there. I pointed him out right there."

Lewis. Was on used car lot; saw man with gun in hand run by; was too
    far way to make identification.

    Markham. Saw entire shooting from opposite side of intersection;
heard three shots; saw gunman trot away; started crying when Oswald
walked into lineup room; positively identified Oswald as Tippit's killer.

Patterson. Was on used car lot; saw man with gun in hand run by; fol-
lowed him for a block with Reynolds; identified photo of Oswald as
    "unquestionably" the man he saw.

Reynolds. Was on used car lot; saw man with gun in hand run by; fol-
lowed him for a block with Patterson; identified Oswald as gunman
    >from photos.

Russell. Was on used car lot; saw man with gun in hand run by; identi-
fied Oswald as gunman from photograph.

Scoggins. Cab driver; heard three or four shots; saw Tippit fall; hid be-
hind cab as man with gun passed within 12 feet; identified Oswald in
    lineup as man with gun.

Smith. Saw Tippit falling and gunman running from a block away; saw
Oswald on television and thought that was man who shot Tippit

9.6.2 Oswald's pistol was not linked to the crime.

False. However, a ballistic match of the bullets in Tippit's body to Os-
wald's pistol was difficult because the bullets were under-sized for the
barrel leaving them with few of the microscopic markings that are used
for identification. One bullet was matched, though. Additionally, the
four shell casings found at the crime scene were matched to Oswald's
pistol by several indicators. (underline mine)
