That's what I read earlier this fall, but didn't pay that close attention to it since we were in the middle of hurricane season (which officially ends Tuesday!). I hope the snowfalls continue in the mountain west. There are a couple of ski trips in the works! It's 56 now, and supposed to get down to about 32 again tonight. The delicate plants are having a rough weekend here.
Don't forget to include Montana in your plans for a "ski trip". We may not have the PR of the others, but we do have some awesome slopes and conditions. Goto: BillingsGazette.com - Ski Report My own personal favorites aren't open yet, Showdown (used to be King's Hill), and the Red Lodge runs. They opened, but limited runs. I used to go to Bridger Bowl and the Snow Bowl when I was a "kid" and could afford to. Now I couldn't pay for the parking at either of them.
We've been talking about making it up to Montana and Wyoming in the past, but I think that we've settled on Park City, Utah already. When I retire next year, I will spend a month or so travelling and skiing at the places that I've read about in the ski magazines, Montana included.
It was 21 degrees when (0645) I went outside to open up the chickens and start working on the barn, it was only about 41 degrees by suppertime (16:30). Friday was just as cold; but, it warmed up to about 55 when we left the in laws at 1500. Rainy and cold today....didn't not venture out. Set thermostat to 73 and lounged in peace.
Snow on Thursday, snow yesterday, I thought Iwas going to freeze to death at the flea market yesterday. Good thing I went though, others prefered to stay home so I got more godies for my collection. The landscape is beautiful and it feels like Christmas already. Global freezing they should call it, time to start polluting a bit and go shopping in a Tiger.
Over here it´ll start to snow again. So i got something for you boys against the cold. No, not an Whiskey its that View attachment 12119
In Nova Scotia, we sadly never get to experience our nation's Cliche weather, we have the misfortune of having the jet stream blowing all varieties of hot and cold fronts over us, so we never know what to expect. Generally we don't get snow that stays until Ontario, Quebec and the North-east US does.
Just finished shoveling the deck of the 14-16 inches of snow. More is on the way but only a spattering of around 2 to 4 inches. It is actually 'warm' today at nearly 20 F.
So much snow at Oregon? Send some to us we can need it somewhere at our Christkindles Markets in the north.
Hi Ulrich, Actually I'm about 1,600 miles East of Oregon in the Great (okay, somewhat nice) State of Minnesota. Be glad to ship you some snow. If I recall you have a mountain near by? Want to trade?
If anyone's tired of the snow, there's always room for another on the beach. If you still want to see it in Hawaii, only Mokuʻāweoweo (the summit of Mauna Loa) has snow, and that's on certain occasions.
you folk whine too much, just enjoy it, the stuff will be gone before you know it and we will all be bitching about how hot it is ............ be happy ! like Clint said we in the Great NW are getting plowed with cold white glop early, well before Christmas and for us to Clint's west that is unusual. Since I luv the snow and chill to the bone it can un-load as much as it wants to, I love a quiet and non squeaky township
It's warmed up to 17F/-7C, we got another 3 to 5 inches of snow last night, wind is blowing at around 15 knots with gusts to 25-30, nearly white out conditions. Now it's time for a leisurely stroll through the woods! Fresh brisk air and nothing but the sound of the wind and the freezing nose hairs tinkling as you breath. Let it Snow, Let it Snow!
When living that close to volcanoes one should be thankful when the precipitation is such that it's liquid at room temperatures.
