nicknames of british army regiments... List of nicknames of British Army regiments - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia wasn't hitler called Teppichfresser" or "Carpet-Chewer"
Heh heh, but I now know what that SOB likes to bid on-so ill be pretty safe in my getting some revenge ;-D
Heh heh, thanks for nicknaming me General James Longstreet-I couldn't get much of a better honor than that. Now i've been compared to TWO great American Generals-James Longstreet and Geo S. Patton Jr. ;-))
Hitler was also called a: Hundsfott or-Dogs Fart. No ship-its true. I can't re4member what book I read that in and was about 4 years ago when I did read it.
It had something to do with several Generals asking for reinforcements in defending a certain Pass-which I THINK was in Greece??? but can't remember? Anyway, after being mocked by Hitler about needing more troops, one General remarked soemthinhg liker: Hitler and a Dogs Fart can go ahead and defend that Pass.
Hitler's moniker of "carpet chewer" comes from his staff. They observed that in a diplomatic or military crisis, he could never sit still, literally pacing the carpets, "chewing" them as it were. Pundits have misinterpreted this as someone who collapses in a froth, chewing carpet with his actual teeth. Considering Hitler's known propensity for losing his temper, it's an understandable error to make. Thanks for the kind words...this has been a fun thread!
Don't forget....Robert E. Lee used to refer to Longstreet as "My old warhorse." Sorry Mr. Evans.....do you really want to be known as "The Green Hornet"? Take your pick....we could always combine the two into "My old green warhornet"
Old Warhorse is an OK nickname-I wouldn't mind it. As for Green Hornet-the Green Hornet is one of my alltime most favorite Radio/Serial and Comicbook characters. He comes in 3rd place right after the Green Lantern and the Green Arrow :-D
