I admit, I am tardy in the fact that I have yet to see the second movie. I did see the first and was blown away with it. Am looking forward to seeing the middle and this current installment of the series.
I'm still waiting to see it on the 26th. I hope that there's a lot of combat in it. Most of all I hope that Frodo dies. I don't know why but I just hate him for some reason.
Colin... After laughing for some time, I must agree with you. I'm not sure if it's his outrageously fake British accent or his bug eyes, but something about him gets annoying after a while. You won't be at a loss for combat, but the battle scenes are either a little shorter than I imagined, or it all is so entertaining and huge that it seems like it passes quickly. I'm not sure, but I assure you you will leave that theater thinking "how the heck did they do that?"
ah c'mon it's just a fantasy film guys actaully Frodo is not suppose to have an English accent.......remember filmed in New Zealand ? whatever, go see the flick you won't be disappointed unless you are a fantatic and want to pick every little tidbit apart. Yes there are some scenes deleted but surely will be shown on the 6 hr DVD extension next year ? did I say 6 hours ?
6 hours? wow...the only people who are able to sit through 6 hours of movie would be the star-wars fanatics who watch all 5 in a row. I hear tell that Jackson is thinking about making the Hobbit. I doubt he'll make Simarilian though. Really a confusing book, even for LOTR fans.
I am partially kidding I hope ! The extended version in DVD will probably be more than 3 cd's in my opinion just two most probably to cover the effects in the two battle scenes, so at least 4 1/2 hrs of coverage am hoping. The likelyhood of watching a marathon of the Trilogy remains strong in my household for next year !.........help me ! ~E
I think I read that a huge battle with Saruman ( Christopher Lee ) was deleted in the final phase (lasting up to 40 minutes )(!)...
Saruman after he's defeated? no...i doubt it. There's this one story Tolkien or Tolkien's son wrote called "return of the shadow" where Saruman ends up wandering into hobbiton much to the suprise of all the hobbits there (including frodo who for some reason returned from the un-dying lands). Great...now I'm confused...
Let me inform you, guys that in to-morrow Friedrich's going to the cinema to watch the "Lord of the Rings Marathon"! The three extended versions of the films!!! Starting at 8 o'clock in the morning and finishing at 22.00!!! But I think it's worth the $30!
Ok, I'll be the black sheep. Up to now it's taken me 2-3 sittings for me to appreciate a LOTR film fully, the first just blows me away too much. And in with the first blow...what the hell is it with Frodo and Sam? I have a best friend, I've known him since primary, but I ain't ever looked at him the way sam looked at frodo in the bedroom...!!!! Second...very convenient of the eagles to pick him up from a flaming lava pit in the end. Why didn't the eagles pick up frodo from Hobbiton and use him to "dive bomb" the ring in there? Having said all that, I enjoyed Fellowship and two towers after the 3rd and 2nd viewing respectively. Herr Generale, your ass must be baked to the seat by now after that marathon, and how did you afford it? ...I remember tix for that on ebay going for US$1000!!!
The Marathon was really amazing! You got out very tired of it, but still full of joy and adrenaline! It was GREAT! Not quite. I chose a VIP cinema so the 12 hours of the films I could be seated on very soft and confortable armchairs with things to lift the feet. Very, very nice. Slightier more confortable than my own bed. And there was of course a lot of food, drinks and sweets and some beer or a brandy in between the films. Getting the tickets was not hard at all, Brat. They were only $35 each since there are many theatres in Mexico playing LOTR marathons.
Dunno if they ever filmed that part? Did they? Thought they cut that part as too unhappy ending... In the book, the hobbits return home to find the beautiful Shire mutilated by factories and nasty half-goblins, which it turns out, are led by the deposed Saruman, who have installed hinself at Bag End no less. Having seen a thing or two, the lads organize the hobbits and throw the bad guys out.
He he he... I thought the third movie returned to the heights of the first one, even though there were some places were scenes were clearly edited out for length. My only problems were that Peter Jackson managed to miss some great moment with the Witchking leading the battering ram to break down the gates of Gondor. Also botched up by not including some great lines when Eowyn confronts the very same badguy... "Come not between the nazgul and his prey! Or he will not slay thee in thy turn. He will bare thee away to the Houses of Lamentation, beyond all darkness, where thy flesh shall be devoured and thy shriveled mind be left naked to the lidless eye." [ 07. A little belatedly, I have watched it. Well, it's good, but I think you overrate it a little, and it did absorb you a little too intensively. This movie may be impressive, exciting, but for a movie of this length, it has very little plot, and compared to the others, to many holes in this plot. Very good, Bratwurst, I had not noticed this one yet! And of course, the brats Sam sires are more important than the fate of evil master Saruman. [ 12.
