Guys, just recieved Hikoki's news letter and it appears the firm is going to release the famed Bodenplatte, Dawn attack, the Luftwaffe's last hope this fall. Price will be 35.00 pounds with 256 pages, 400 b/w pics and ISBN # 1 902109 40 6
A couple of us have waited over 3 years for this monumental effort.

Mission 376, Battle over the Reich: 28 may 1944.
This a US daylight mission where over 32 heavy bombers fell in action. Written by Ivo de Jong this will have 256 pages with 250 b/w pics and colour illustrations. Price at 29.95 pounds. Looks like a great read since there are about only 6 books so far written covering specific day light bombing missions over Germany. Target Berlin being the most popular. this title maybe a classic.......in print now I believe.

also a new book covering the stealth KG 200 is being presented....

Received the same newsletter last thursday, but you beat me to this post, Erich!

Good news that the title is finally being released. Also Ivo's title. Have you heard from him yet? I just finished his 'Mission 85' book. Have to get in touch with him about that one. I know he is now working on the 487 BG history.

    How was Cali???

Stevin, the trip was a great one and will be my last in the Calif. sierra's for two years as I have promised my honey to take to parts unknown through the mid and eastern USA. Some wil thunderstorms up high at 11,000 feet and sunny skies of 80 F......too warm.

I am not sure what is up with Ivo, as I sent him some text from our site on December 24, 44 concerning the 487th, no thank you or anything.....I'm a bit bummed as I would be interested if the information was useable. I look forward to his book when released which I am not usre when... ?

~E any more word on those illusive Dutch Ju 88G-6's ?

    WHAT!? Oh, My God!

This saddens me greatly. I have met Ron a couple of times, and this is a shock to me. He showed me my first few steps on researching the German side of WW2 and I met him a few times when he acted as the rep. of the 91st BG association at the memorial service for a B17 crew in Opijnen and on memorial day at Margraten Netherlands Military Cemetery. He was a friendly guy and helped me on my way a few times. Very dedicated to documenting the airwar in his local area and Yankee 44, the Allied airfield which, after the war, grew into Maastricht/Aachen airport. The bodenplatte book being his secon publication, and as many will know here, very much anticipated.

Much of his work can be found on his excellent website http://fly.to/yankee44

    Unbelievable.

My thoughts go out to his family.

Thank you for letting me know, Carl...

The man will be missed by so many I cannot even count. The chap had great knowledge and hopeful that the Bodenplatte book will be huge success and a wonderful tribute to the fallen on that nasty day. Also hopeful that John M can keep Ron's web-pages on the air waves as it is a much needed site with great info and links.

John wrote on TOCH that the memorial will be held 16 October and that John's remains will be cremated. So at 15.30 hrs European if we could all make a salute as a tribute to a fine and gracious man.........

and once the book is in our hands Stevin and I and everyone can make comment.......

this has really bummed me out

Guys, my PC is toast completey so I am borrowing another for the time being..........

The Bodenplatte book is going to be released by specialty press on the US east coast in january 2004. Price equivalent around 49.95 US but will be worth it.

Expect to pay more this winter through 2004 end for good books. paper prices and good quality phot scanning has hit the roof ! ♠
