This may be old news to everyone, but the great Mr. Gaines Blackwell passed away earlier this year. We stayed in touch on Social Media and I was going to visit him in the spring. But the good Lord took him home. They say in heaven there are many mansions. I say Gaines designed his own! He was a well respected Architect, and his past students were deeply upset. I hope everyone is doing well. Best Regards To All!

    Hi,
I also kept in touch with Gaines on social media, that's how I learned of his passing.
Great man, wish we could have met.

    Thanks for remembering him.

I talked with Professor Gaines quite often outside the forum and was shaken badly by his death. We spent a day touring period aircraft several years ago and got to know each other well.

He was a sport and I wish he were still logging on here.

I was saddened to learn of Gaines' passing over the holidays. He was a true southern gentleman and he is dearly missed.

We had many memorable conversations in the PMs about his days as a prof at LSU. He inquired about local places of interest and if they were still there and such. I invited him to visit some of his old stomping grounds before long, but was not up to it. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Gaines. While I never met him or communicated with him outside of the forum, his posts were not only thoughtful, but they made the reader think. His observations will be missed. He will be missed.
