alright a hint: he was executed by firing squad in Belgrade, Yugoslavia, for his role as the commander of the German Air Force units involved in the Bombing of Belgrade in 1941.

Nothing I did other than Googling. Your hint gave it away.

If you've been following threads closely, it should make identifying this general officer easier.

    YOOHOO, Jeff!

Now that you are back please relieve us of our misery. I know I've seen his photo in my searches before for this quiz, so its going to bug me until you give us hints or an answer. Thanks!

I think he was a corps commander in Europe. I'll get back to looking.

Correct. Married Eva Braun's sister thus making him Hitler's brother-in-law. Your turn.

Is that a single star on Patton's Helmet? Must be way back. LOL. Lucius Clay.....I was thinking of Lucian Truscott.

    How about Lloyd Fredendall?

Not Fredendall. I think Patton is wearing the stars of a MajGen, he should have been a MG at the time this picture was made. The picture was made in the CONUS, while Patton was in command of the 2nd Armored Division.

The general in question had a major influence on US armored doctrine and armor production.
