Name that general! (with written questions too)

Thanks, Jeff - it sure seemed low to me, but I'm not anywhere near being an authority on German Generals (or, any other Generals, for that matter!)

I'm gonna have to go with He Yingqin (or Ho Ying-chin) - according to Wiki

Chiang knew He’s protest and came to meet with He. Chiang told He "Without you, I can still take power, but without me, you will be nothing." After careful consideration, He had to reconcile with Chiang.​

He was appointed as chief of staff of the National Revolutionary Army, and training supervisor for NRA.​

Plus, when I look at his picture on Generals of WWII, I see a similarity around the mouth (the glasses could be a later addition)

He could also be the third gentleman from the left of this picture of Doolittle and his crew after crashing in China

Thank you for bringing my site up. I hope it is useful. I am however compelled to make a few comments.

In regards to the numbers of German generals then the number of army generals during the war was well over 3000. I've got the information but just hasn't had the time to add them yet.

Regarding China then please remember that it includes generals back to 1935.
Yet the number is still way to small. The Chinese army had over 4000 generals in active service in January 1944.

Regarding the British and Commenwealth please notice that I have include Brigadiers, who at the time was not considered generals.

As for the Soviet please remember that I have also include officers with ranks equivalent to generals such Commissars of State Security of the NKVD or political officers like Brigade-Commissars.

Finally I would like to add that I am constantly working on the site adding new information and new generals.

So in shorth - the database is not complete and you can't really compare the numbers of the differnt nations. Yet I hope you find it use full.

Hint:He was the key strategist who convinced Chiang Kai-shek to adopt a "Total War" strategy

 

Another Hint:

Inthe spring of 38 he teamed up with General Li Zongren and fought a superior force in the Battle of Tai'erzhuang

 

Nope sorry Jeff, This guy survived the war.
In 1946 he was appointed Minister of National Defence, but it turned out the position was a powerless post.
