    Nope. Pretty good resemblence though.

Hint: This individual started the war as a Oberstleutnant in charge of a motorized rifle regiment and the highest command level obtained was in charge of an army group until busted down by Hitler and ended the war in command of an army.

I did not think this was a hard one. Hint:
Maj Gen F.W. von Mellenthin was his Chief of Staff when this General was a Korps Commander in the East and followed him to the West, where they were in charge of an army group, until they were both sacked by Hitler.

Yes. What gave it away? I thought he was a well known General.

Personally from what I have read from various sources, I think he was a pretty good general. He adapted to commanding panzer troops pretty good and was a strong advocate of solid cooperation and coordination.

That would be French general Henri Giraud - who became co-president of the Free French with Chuck from January '43 until that November, when he was politicly 'outmaneuvered' and lost the co-presidency to Chuck....

    ...... c'est la vie!

    Wow - I just checked Clarence R. Huebner's Wiki listing -

he was at Omaha beach, he looks like my guy AND he was at the Huertgen Forest!!

OK - my guy was in the chain of command that approved the execution of Pvt. Slovik. (It ultimately went all the up to Ike.)

I'll try and find another picture, too.

    Nice try, though, Jeff.

You got it, Michelle! Good job!

He was also very vocal, during the planning for D-Day, about being AGAINST a daylight landing - he felt it should have been a night landing.

    OK, go for it, Michelle.
