Hi Guys, I searched this thread to try and make sure this vehicle hadn't already been posted. I couldn't find it using several search terms, so here goes.
You weren't long narrowing it down! Nice work, vathra! You have control now. The info I found on this tank/sp said that the 2 guns that were mounted on the Cruiser chassis were, 105 mm (French Schneider Creusot Model 1928) Howitzers and 75 mm (Swedish Bofors Model 1935). It's thought that the last of these vehicles were destroyed in the late 50's or early 60's. None are known to survive today.
Bine! You are correct on both vehicles. It is version of Pz I with remotely controlled mine-clearing vehicle. Your turn.
Looks like a komsolets tractor with a 57mm Zis-2 gun on top, possibly called a SU-57 but AFAIK that designation was also used for the Ziz-2 on an US origin 1/2track chassis and for an experimental tank destroyer.
So did Slomo get it right? Or was TiredOld Soldier the winner? Got a really unique looking tank to show, but I'm always 12 hours behind the right answers... One day.... I'll win.
I know it's probably grounds for a court-martial, but I must step out of line to say my piece. Malasorte has not yet stated who has won the challenge, so to get things moving again, I will relinquish any claim I might have to the right answer, to TiredOldSoldier. His answer helped me to make a positive identification so I believe it only fair to give credit where it's due.
Agree we should get the ball rolling again but the credit is really yours, I did get "what" it was but should have looked further for the right designation Anyway here is a ..... View attachment 10176
My guess would be the Italian made SPG "Semovente M 42M da 75/34" It was originally designed to use the same chassis that the P40 tank did. Because of production delays, the chassis of the 15 ton, M15/42 was used.
Absolutely correct, hoped the 78 inf (axe) and 38th Irish brigade (leaf) insigna would fool someone. Hard to find good ones when something like this lasts less than two hours. Your turn.
First thing I noticed, was the insignia's, but something just didn't look right about them. I had been looking at some Italian designs a while ago and your pic struck me as being Italian, so I began searching there. Good try to fool us though. Hope this one hasn't been shown before.
It is Hungarian light tank V.4. BTW, on other forum I recently posted this question, but the answer was it was before.
Lol, guess I should have checked more thoroughly before posting it. I played right into your hand Vathra. Yes the Hungarian V4 was an experimental light tank design of 1937/38. Next time I'll try to be a bit more diligent searching first. Very good Vathra, it's your turn.
