One of the actors switched from the Navy to the Army for "The Battle of the Bulge" twenty years later.
It might have been too obscure a quote. The US submariners pulled the old trick of pumping out fuel oil to make the enemy on the surface think they had been hit. The evil German Q-ship commander rubbed his hands when he saw the oil slick and said, "Oil! Wunderbar!" Always like that line. Next question is open for anyone to post.
Opps. I had pasted the movie poster into my last post but it isn't appearing there now. It was Crash Dive with Tyrone Power, Dana Andrews and Anne Baxter http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0035763/
"The Longest Day". Saw it a few weeks ago during the Veteran's Day Marathon. Since you like submarine movies, here's one for you; "Two small freighters. We had hard luck".
Nope. Hint #1: The movie was made during the war, in 1945. It really wasn't a submarine movie, but had a submarine in it.
Close enough. It was "Posey" in the Dirty Dozen but he wasn't played by Fess Parker. You're up. It was Clint Walker
First Soldier - Becket? Second Soldier - He's wounded, sir. Third Soldier - He's dying, sir. It's bad. First Soldier - sotto voce - Keep your voices down. It is not a WWII movie. I edited and added some stage direction to maybe help out.
