ok, maybe this was posted already, but it's a little ''off'' ...'''I just pissed in my pants, and nobody can do anything about it''....it's not a war movie per se...
Not your turn. You have to guess one before just posting a quote. It's Big City's turn now. And the criteria is WW2 movies, or movies set during the war that has something to do with the war, for example "Hail the Conquering Hero". The movie was set in California during WW2, about a guy who tried to join the Marines and was classified as 4F. He befriended several Marines who had returned stateside after the Guadalcanal Campaign. The accompany the protagonist home and the story takes off from there. Good flick. Anyway, you'll have to wait your turn dood.
Well, since Big City doesn't want to play anymore (he joined, made two posts and went AWOL) I guess that I'll have to get this thing started again. Bronk7, re-familiarize yourself with the rules (post #1338) and join in when you can. "my bones belong in Arlington"
"The Sole Survivor". It was a made for TV movie from 1971 or 72 or so. Richard Basehart played a Air Force general who was the only survivor of his bomber in MTO. His squadron, based in North Africa was on a mission to Italy. It was shot up and he bailed out without orders. The plane continued on and crash landed in the desert, and all the remaining crew members died there. Basehart was the plane's navigator. Anyway, his plane is found, with the skeletons in the area. The ghosts of the crew are stuck with the plane, and they wander the area while USAF recovery teams search for the skeletons. One of the ghosts made the statement, "my bones belong in Arlington" as a joke. Pretty good flick though. Ok, let's get another one going. "No no, this is MY show" Great flick.
It's the part when they are preparing to scale the cliffs behind the Germans during the artillery barrage. Richard Jaeckel's charactor was a circus performer in pre-war life I believe, and was good at handling ropes and climbing. So he took the lead in scaling the cliff. Got dusted at the top, but he got the job done.
