Can't believe it's that time of year again - just five days to the first big airshow of the Season ... http://duxford.iwm.org.uk/server/show/conEvent.877
Camera in hand yes ..... ? also when will they pit the RAF Lanc against the Luftwaffe Ju 88G-6 ? wish they had a 88G-6 to display I'd be over the pond in a milli-second alles gut !
Camera in hand most definitely ! The Lancaster is due to appear - the UK airshow scene desperately needs some Axis aircraft of any type, let alone a Ju88.....
Well, in Britain we have this thing called The Weather and yesterday's Duxford Airshow had plenty of it.... The morning statrted off OK ..... But by the afternoon.... Oh, well - me and a bunch of guys from another Forum had a fun meet-up, so all was not lost ! Better luck for Flying Legends in July......
Those Spitfires on grass are so cool ! Good pictures Martin. Those scoops under the Griffin Spit look like they would really slow the aircraft down alot. Post more if you have them please !
Thank you for the last picture Martin ! Even that looks good to me. If you had tilted the camera up alittle to elimiate the concrete strip you could have said it was from WWII circa 1943. But really they are excellent pictures and I do appreciate all the photos and information you have put on the forum for others to learn.
looks like a German intruder coming low over the hump to the right of the pic ........ mist ? looks dank to me
I shall be 'off to Duxford' again tomorrow for the very last airshow of the season. It's been a lousy year for weather in 2008 and tomorrow looks like being no exception ; but I'm looking forward to a relaxing day meeting up with guys from another Forum, browsing the trade stands, seeing some of the veteran signings, etc...... I 'need' a nice 'boys' day out'......
Hope the weather holds out for you, Martin, I wish I could be there... Oh well, I had my boys days out last weekend in the Hurtgen Forest...sigh! I trust you will share your airshow photographs with us...
hey what's wrong with those pilots, it's clear above 20,000 ' sorry about the stinko weather Martin ~
The airshow should have been held up here in Cheshire, the weather was glorious all day... If the past two years are anthing to go by, I wouldn't hold my breath for good weather next year, Martin. This years british 'summer' feels like it lasted for three days rather than three months...
