Jef, would you be so kind please to ask Old Hickory if he remembers something about the fierce fights after the liberation of Maastricht towards Meerssen Bunde on 16th septembre '44? There was a lot of resistance these days because germans blew up some important bridges so advance was delayed. Finally Americain forces found a little bridge which was intact at Weert. Besides that they helt high ground on which they were able to lay arty barages on everything that moved.

    Hello IBBARR:

Your father's WWII history sounds almost identical to my father's. Do you know what years he was overseas? My dad was drafted from Oklahoma (Tulsa was where he registered) and I think he was over there about 2 years, wounded 3 times, he was a sharpshooter. He was first injured 2 days after D-Day in the St. Lo, France area. He never talked about the war but had some association with the Malmady Massacre, I don't know if he knew somebody who was there or not. I can't remember when he came back but I think it was Dec. 1944 with shell shock. Please contact me so we can discuss our histories!)

    Slipdigit,

Might I suggest you consider also publishing the book through Amazon.com? Their Ebook (Kindle) sales are now about 70% of the book market and publishing through them makes the work available to hundreds of millions of people. You get 70% of the royalties. It's a bit tedious to do since you have to change all the formatting in Word so it works in the Kindle format, which is kind of an ugly process since you never get it right the first time. Once the book "works" in Kindle (they provide a Kindle viewer that works from your PC), you then "publish" it on Amazon and make it available for download to most of the world.

I've got a couple of books out now and am quite happy with the process and the royalties. You an email me if you have any questions. Here's a link: https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishing/signin
