    Martin,
Just picked up a book you would appreciate. It's called "AAF:The Official WW11 Guide to the Army Air Forces", and is a 1988 reprint of a 1944 original.
Basically, this lists the history, complete paper organisation, leaders, tactics, training, ranks, payrates, aircraft specs and armament, war diary to 15/3/44 etc etc etc!
My mouth's watering talking about it!

    Regards,
    Gordon

    Martin,
Seems packed full of information at first glance. Not had a chance to actually read it yet.
As I said, it's a 1988 reprint of a 1974 reprint of a 1944 original official publication by the USAAF! It seems to have been done in the same vein as the "Handbook on The....." series PSL did years ago.
Original publishers were the Army Air Forces Aid Society. This one's by Bonanza Books of NY.
As well as technical info, it's got a fair selection of pics, both action and still. No idea how it came to be in Oxfam in Glasgow's west end though...
    And all for £3.99!...

Sounds like a book-collector's version of 'I danced with a girl who danced with a man who danced with a girl who danced with the Prince of Wales.....' [IMG]
