OK, since I did not get a hint on the last one, I will not offer a hint for this one. This man participated in the battle of Tarawa. Who is he and what is he famous for?
Well, the heavy shadows are causing uncertainty, but I'll say it's Edward Albert Heimberger, better known as Eddie Albert. From Wiki, "A genuine war hero, he was awarded the Bronze Star with Combat "V" for his actions during the invasion of Tarawa in November, 1943, when, as the pilot of a U.S. Coast Guard landing craft, he rescued 47 Marines who were stranded offshore (and supervised the rescue of 30 others), while under heavy enemy machine-gun fire." As far as what he is famous for? Well, he's done a ton of stellar acting, but I suppose he'll always be remembered for being Mr. Douglas on Green Acres.
Sorry Doc, that is an incorrect answer, but you are pointed in the right direction. - "We're not retreating, we're advancing in another direction" - Douglas MacArthur.
Ed Wood enlisted in the Marines at age 17, just months after the Attack on Pearl Harbor. He served from 1942-1946 and claimed that he had participated in the Battle of Tarawa while secretly wearing a brassiere and panties beneath his uniform. Went on to make a lot of bad movies, like "Planet 9 from Outer Space".
That's it Doc. Very well done. Bravo Zulu. I didn't think anybody would get it. Salute goes out to you. You're up Doc.
They are watching a dogfight OR a group of bombers' trails. I believe this was taken in London around the time of the Battle of the Bulge...?
I'll give it to you, HP. It is a dogfight and it was at the Battle of the Bulge from what I remember of the caption. I think it was at the Ardennes though and not London, but you're up! edit: I don't think this is where I found this pic originally but here is this caption.
