Self-Propelled armoured sledges were used by both the Soviets and the Germans during the winters.

Weird... I believe I have seen some of those sledge vehicles somewhere, but I can't remember. Notmi, could you please translate the Finnish text underneath the first picture?

    Sure.
    It says:
"Russian infantry tries to penetrate finnish fireweb in sledge pulled by a tank"

I translated term "tuliverkko" directly to english "fireweb", I've never seen that expression before. It probably means some kind of "killing zone" where no infantry can survive from small arms fire.

I think it should be rendered "ambush" or "crossfire" then. But of course, I don't know a word in Finnish. Though now I do recognize 'suomalaisten' as 'Finnish', that's as far as I get.

Crossfire is probably best. (Thanks Notmi)

So - any takers on the "turtle"???

Yes, that was something I thought first too. But we do have word for that, "ristituli" which literally means crossfire. Wonder why it wasn't used in that text? Well, I think we got the point clear anyways.

And Roel: T28 was better than anything we had.

'Fireweb' probably is a way of trying to explain that it is a crossfire, and with a heavy volume of fire as well.
    A superior crossfire?

Maybe. I really dont know, like I said, I've never, ever seen that expression used before. But I get the fealing it means something very lethal.

    Sorry, my bad.
I thought you were just referring that tank in that sledgepicture with finnish text.
By the way, what tank is it? I personally have no idea.
