Here is my two pennies worth......

I think it may have been MUCH simpler if he had been FOUND dead!!!

Who would have known any different?

One simple shot through the heart and job done, finished, finito, kaput.

What we are now faced with is perhaps months or years of show trials and arguments over who will do what.....If found guilty should he then be hanged as per Iraqi law?

Look at the Milosovic (?) fiasco...Yes its still going on isn't it :(

I believe that most Iraqi nationals couldn't give a toss what happens to SH they would have been just as happy if he had been found dead in the bottom of a hole.

I aslo feel that this will in no way stop terrorist actions around the globe :( I do not believe it will ever be possible to stop fanatics

    Regards Graham
(fully paid up Liberal candidate :D )

Would've thought it would be harder for them to confirm id if he was dead...they didn't know whether it was saddam's sons for days when they died. Also, won't it be great if Saddam got up on TV looking err...a bit worse for wear, saying what a nasty thing he did and for his followers to lay down their arms.

Won't solve world hunger/terrorism, but I'd tune in for that! :D

I think we're putting too much emphasis on his capture; other than the symbolic he has meant nothing since his fall in April. If there were any WMD to be found, they would have been by now. If anything, he could elaborate on how much WE sold him for use in the Iran war.

And this is beside the fact that Saddam had very little to do with the war on terror anyway. Unfortunately for America, this may help Bush get some votes. Hopefully by November other more important issues than Saddam will regain the spotlight...

    1) Terrorism isn't going away, two suicide bombings this morning actually.

    2) If we can find Saddam, we can find a boatload of non-existant vx gas and anthrax

    3) Iraqis

    4) He should be tried by the Hague though, the place set up just for this sort of occasion. Every murderer caught in our country gets a fair trial, so should he.

Oh and on the bravery issue, if someone stormed into your bedroom unnanounced with a gun to your head, are you going to try anything stupid? He was surprised, there was nothing brave or cowardly about it.

    BUHAHAHAAHAHAH!!

    Guantanimo bay? OJ Simpson?
Mate...your trials are no different to the farce that is our British legal system,

ie trial by Oprah/CNN/Hello Magazine/Popular Opinion.

Sorry to be cheeky but that was quite funny [IMG]

At least if it is in Iraq, the people will be able to put the past behind them.

Its funny how everyone thinks OJ did it, yet when asked how they know this...oh well, a different thread perhaps ;)

Guantanamo is just absurd, but then most domestic criminals don't go there. Overall though, I think a UN tribunal would be much more fair than a kangaroo court in Iraq.

As if on cue, I present to you fair readers a news report from ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission):

    From:
    http://www.abc.net.au/am/content/2003/s1009941.htm

What do you mean he won't get a fair trial? [IMG]

I was indeed VERY happy to listen to the news and then watch him in TV in such pathetic looks! [IMG]

And the bastard must be hanged! After a trial by an international court at The Hague, of course. Along Milosevic and (insert uthopy here), Taylor, Pinochet...

I just didn't like Bush's bad try of copying a speech by a true stateman: "Yesterday, December 14th 2003, a day which will live in..." (Sounds familiar?) But I think Bush's speech was good and realistic. He was VERY right when he said that Saddam would "face the justice he denied to millions". Thumbs up there! And also that terrorism in Iraq is not going to end. Of course is not, Saddam didn't have anything to do with it. We know he wasn't commanding anything from his rat hole...

But all the happiness went away after I realised that silly democrats are still messing everything up and now Bush's popularity is going to increase... [IMG] And then happiness was replaced by anger by knowing that we'll have to stand Junior five more years... [IMG]

It's great that he has been captured but, it's only a symbolic capture. Not much has changed but, possibly in the near future?

Ach so………naughty No.9……besmirching Austria’s most famous son

Yes we all know what the Rotten Fuhrer’s public name only could/should have been . After all, it probably should really have been Frankenberger    muzzeltoff!!!

And, if he had a full complement of brazil’s, he doesn’t seem to have used them much……according to the testimony of the housekeepers at Berchtesgaden………except maybe in the hayloft during WWI? ;)

    no. 9,
Do you remember an old Panorama programme which investigated the case?
I seem to remember them unearthing original medical files which proved Hitler was a Monorchid, ie, only had one testicle.
And no, it wasn't an April Fool!

Err….can’t say I do Flash, however, I’m sure they did one and it wasn’t a relative of Dimbleby’s ‘Spaghetti Tree’ scam, (that was a good one). I’m aware there are books on the subject and much learned study involving pathologists and historians. I don’t believe anyone credible has gone as far as to say Adolf’s missing nut was responsible for W.W.II – but not far from it.

I have to say the significance, or perhaps gravity, of whether it was a genetic fault or it got shot off at the Somme, escapes me? Maybe his little trench dog nicked it, ate it and died? Whatever, I can’t see there is any conclusion to be drawn about anyone with a defective lunchbox? Supposing you’re a Jewish Czech with half a magazine, who do you try and annihilate and occupy? (Then again, how often do you see a Jewish cheque???) [IMG]

I don't know...They are saying they have picked up a couple of people they were looking for that his remarks led them to...Not sure those lovers operate under the UCMJ... :D

They ought to tell him how close he was to getting a handgrenade in the face.

One of the conservative radio commentators here in town today said the mean old PC USA would subject Saddam to sleep deprivation by first asking him what time he usually went to bed and if the answer was 21:00, they would keep him up until 22:30.... [IMG]

There is very little sympathy for Saddam here. Houston's paper headline said "ONE DOWN AND ONE TO GO" and this is on a paper so left leaning that it is laughingly called "The Houston Pravda." Hopefully cool heads will prevail...

Guess I have been looking at this from the start as to what will change if and when the clown would be captured. Well it has happened but what can we expect all over the world ? Decreased terrorism ? Don't think so........in fact it may increase

I read that they caught him in a hole with two Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol and $750,000 in $100 bills.

Sounds exactely like me sitting and my "appartment" :D

However, congrats to the informer/shamus for the $25 million reward and his/her new identity.´

    Cheers,
