urqh, the salute icons only appear beneath posts when you are able to salute them. Basically, the icon won't appear beneath your own posts, posts that are older than 90 days, or posts you have already saluted. The salute icons won't appear at all if you have given away your daily allotment. Salutes come with 3 reputations points, but you can always award reputations points to any posts no matter how old, in any amount up to your reputation power.

    Are you confused yet?

And I can't salute or give rep points. I gave 2 salutes today and the last time was Dec 24, so it was 3 in 24 hours. Please let me know if it is something I need to fix or otherwise. Thank!!

You're too hasty! Give it another 24 hours and you'll have your "three wishes" back ;)

In this instance my typo completely reversed what I meant!!

I meant it was not 3 in 24 hours. 1 salute on the 24th and 2 on the 29th. I was also under the impression that even if I saluted 3 times, I thought I could still give rep points according to its parameters. I'll have a look to see if I regained my complimentary power today.

Nope - still can't salute or give rep points...

Too obvious. Instead people should salute me and I would surreptitiously transfer points to you.

Maybe he is expecting some gift as a form of payment. Or you may have to show some respect...

A couple of decades of Marxism has turned you into an expert, maybe it's time for to send the NKVD :D .

Remember the cold war joke "give me your watch I will tell you what time it is"

I believe you have to be a member for a certain amount of time before it becomes active.

Just wanted to thank of you veteran's who served our country in WWII. I just got done watching the history channel. Wow I don't know how you all were so selfless and what you did to protect our country. The conditions that you lived...my hat is off to ALL of you. And the Enterprise what an awesome aircraft carrier...to bad we couldn't keep her together in a history museum...I cried just to see her get ripped apart..I wasn't even there and I couldn't imagine being there..sincerely from the bottom of my heart..none of you are forgotten...thank you!
