A new design: The Terry Gilliam Armor: 10 mm of tin foil with molecular binding force turbocompressor generators Armament: one hydrogen fusioncore powered catapult Drive system: laser-attentuated 2 bladed wooden propeller (1915 vintage)
I made this drawing once when I was deeply bored, however it seems to fit in remarkably well with the rest of this thread. Twelve points to the first who recognizes what common desk item inspired the shape of the ship...
Here's a nice tie-in with the usual WW2 theme - Space Battleship Yamato is widely thought to have been the start of the big Japanese anime scene of today. I haven't seen it but apparently the Japs raised the Yamato and converted it into a spaceship to defend earth in order to atone for their crimes of WW2. Here' some stuff - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_Battleship_Yamato http://www.starshipmodeler.com/yamato/yamato.htm http://www.shipschematics.net/yamato/images/edf/battleship_yamato.jpg http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/6303905293/104-9755625-3347104?v=glance&n=404272 The model looks great. Nice !
Lone Wolf: Wow. A space battleship. Maybe the USA should turn the Iowas into space battleships too? Roel: Awesome drawing skills! Making a battlecruiser out of a pen cap! I wish I could draw like that. If I could, I'd draw the Atlantis. It'll look exactly like those Centauri Primus ships in Babylon 5. But I'll take out the tail-it's ugly.
Hahaha, converting the Yamato to use in space! Great stuff. I am going to have to see an episode of that... sometime.
I'm guessing it is a transport ship or similar rather than a warship - the weaponry is small & sparse...

GOD i feel like stealing that design for the Hydra... unfortunately enough, Core design is blocky and functional, not tasteful... instead, i shall submit a picture made in paint
Huh? There's guns sticking out all over... If you consider that the little black stripes that so conveniently emphasize the shape of the hull are windows, you'll notice that my pen cap is actually pretty huge, and the main guns to both sides of the hull above the engine are actually roughly the size of a city bus. Why am I arguing? Yes, indeed, it's a transport ship, it guarantees to keep all your ink in liquid form on its journeys across the galaxy.
He.... Yeah.... I forgot the two MAC guns on her belly (don't shoot). But, all four weapons have an insanely slow fire rate and her shields are crap compared to even a modest cruiser. Armour? you wish. BTW...she is hardly worth using if your opponant has a good team of commandos and a ship that can be used to board others....that's how she was captured b the Siberian Patrol (and became their most powerful ship after the Commissioner.) Fear the pen cap! Very good work gentlemen.
I don't get it... What's a MAC gun? How do you know the weapons I've drawn are MAC guns? How do you know the rate of fire of a weapon that doesn't exist, assuming for a moment that I did in fact use this weapon? How do you know what shields I am using? How do you know the quality of the armour on this ship? What do you know of my internal defences, on-board fighting units and anti-boarding measures? It seems that you know a whole lot more about the ship I designed than I do... Which makes sense, since I didn't spend as much as a single second wondering how much armour was on it, or what would happen if it was boarded. I think this is pretty much what Panzerman meant earlier.
That's the Atlantis, for ya'. Except it has more weaponry, and no tail. Tails on spaceships are ugly.
