Yup, it was Ed Bishop (now dead apparently...) and please, there's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with Straker's hair colour (I know because mine's much the same shade... and that's my "nickname" when my mate's had a drink).

Apparently Buck inhertited a shed load of gold but couldn't figure out how to move it, so some friendly locals made him a rocket ship out of it. It looks very similar to Flash Gordons ship. All washing up bottle and fins, if you remember the TV series.
