Yes, it takes place during the 18th and 19th centuries. I also wonder where this series can go next after ETW... ??

The problem with that game is that without any mods, it's easy as hell... That and the fact that it came out it so many bugs, the combined size of the patches is nearly 1GB...
    In the first version,
two handed weapons other than swords didn't work because the animations were screwed...

    Cheers...

Not so sure about that. Maybe Shogun/Medieval I. Rome Total War has some pretty awesome Mods for it, and Kingdoms comes with the patch for MTW2, and I can assure you it wasn't a 1GB patch. My Papal States AAR is using the 'retrofit' mod, which takes all the new units and gameplay features from Kingdoms and 'retrofits' it to the Grand Campaign of MTW 2. The other mod I have makes the map A LOT bigger (Ireland has 4 or 5 cities, for instance).

I never let them retreat-I always bring some cavalry so I make sure they wont rebel again. Most of the time I just massacre them I am so fed up wit them.

I execute every soldier I capture. Apparently their nation can't afford 4,000 Florins to get them back.

I release them if I capture less than 10, and if the ransom is more than 1000 I ask for a ransom.

Joe yeah I fancy a game. you will probably win though. Send me a PM. (CoH)

You can play any nation that you eliminate. (TW M2) And I like to have a mix, I like the cross bows, to widle them down and infantry to fix them and cavelry to cruss the reserve and drive into the rear.

Apparently, if you execute more than anything else, this promotes mutiny within your ranks causing your armies to go 'rebel' more often, especially when playing as a Catholic/Christian faction.

One thing that does tick me off is when the Pope asks you to stop hostilities between you and another Christian neighbor..... I do, yet the bastard continues to attack me. So, it's OK for him to keep attacking me, but I have to stop defending myself. I never understood that aspect of the game.

I usually use a combo of pikemen to hold the line and then flanking maneuvers with cavalry and my archers breaking them up. Of course it was better to play RTW with the EB mod. The most realistic experience I have ever had.You just have so many choices... it's mesmerizing. And MP was great too... managed to win some battles in mp and it was always amusing:)

    Cheers...

You have got me interested in this EB. and I am downloading at this very moment, all the reviews look good, and the makers view on the changes looks good too.

I just finished downloading it and have played it for a while, and wow, it was not what I expected. They certainly have removed the 'acrade' side of the game and put a lot of realism in it, and the map now, It is going to take me years of my life to get to the other side. lol Thanks Miguel for the idea on the mod, I would give you some rep but I cant, so a Salute will have to do

Yup EB is awesome... Their work on every single aspect of the game is amazing. And their data base in historical knowledge is only comparable to the one found here :p They really have guys digging into the historical documents over hayasdan (Parthia) Pontus and so many others... Even the rebel factions are absolutelly studied to exhaustion. Plus, the AI gets a lot of bonuses to keep things interesting. Although this is a two-edged blade cause when you try to invade Seleukia or the Ptolomaioi you'll be faced with ever increasing hordes of armies... However, battle though harder are easy so, you'll come out on top eventually.
btw, keep an eye out for those Trakitoi Romphaioi or Peltastai ;)

    Cheers...

The battles certainly are harder, the enemy units don't just simpy die anymore, which is good and bad, and the only way I know what unit is what, is because they have put the old names such as Hastiti next to what I assume is the Roman language,

Yes all units have their names in the original language. I was part of the Hayasdan voice mod for a while but then I didn't have time to do it so I had to drop it...:S

Joe and I got together and played a little COH. Here is a brief flavor of the games.

Here Joe and I set up a chokepoint Defence and blunted the enemy here.

Next I assaulted the enemy base area and Joe pummeled it with artillery.

In another round we mopped up British Resistance with our combined army group. The Armor is Joe's.

Hey Tikilal, those games proved that I have not played in a long time, there was a time I could defeat 2 expert computers by myself. :(

I need to reinstall the original, I am not very good as the Pnzer elite.

I do think, however, at the next opportunity we go against each other.
