and another Sturmgruppen ace Will Unger, super guy, very friendly with correspondance and was able to get a copy of all his photos from his album

I would love to see the Unger album Pics sometime. It is so great that you have had the opportunity to speak with and correspond to so many of these guys. My envy is enormous. I mentioned that I studied german language in college and have been to Germany quite a few times, in fact I lived in Augsburg in the early 80s for 3 months.
Even though I was a collector of memorabilia at the time and also a huge WW2 history fanatic and a gemanophile it never occured to me to even write too or try to look up any of these guys. So now I am kicking myself for not having thougt about it now that many have passed and the opportunity is gone forever. you are very fortunate to have had the opportunity and I am sure you have many of their stories to tell and pass on as well. like I said before I would love a chance to talk with you about this sometime and to see your photos, correspondance and interview information and to hear the stories that they have told you.

interviewed friend Peter S. at length though he is not really well now, just taking it easy..... Walter B. interviewed him at length about his late war missions and his 2 Beaufighter kills confirmed especially, he sent several singed pics. you might be interested as the Unger pics sitting in and on the motorhaube of yellow 17 is all propaganda shots, he never flew that machine that was another 12th staffel pilots mount with the underbelly rearward firing rocket launcher which was a total failure and a joke

ssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh don't tell anyone Lacy. Man I have been doing this so very long and established sound connections with many which then sent me in the proper direction(s). too bad that over 90 % of these gents are gone now.

 

Martin was ble to interview Otto F a tad bit. G. Bahr is being congratulated by ace Peter Spoden, I have that pic as well as Rökker along with 6 other pics he sent me have corresponded with Heinz R at least 6-7 times over the years, a real great chap.

same goes with Paul though he has refused some correspondance rather having folk purchase his book for the answers, his last victory is still up for grabs the two of us were still trying to work out the true details of the event as history mentions one date and in reality he did not even fly on the mission represented, sadly he became quite ill but has recovered well enough now.

 

I did not know Paul had a book, is there any version that is translated to english?

 

Lacy am not sure of the title but yes in German only, do not think there will be large enough sales on it for an English translation

 

I guess if I want to read a lot of the books that have not been translated, I should brush up on my german language and reading skills and just start to read them in German
