I'm in awe of your abilities. Far greater than anythinh I could produce. I cab't wait to see the finished product. I'll echo Jeff in hopes that you will do something on the Battle off Samar. Those Escorts deserve all the accolades they should get.
Yes, of course. My father was a painter and one of the things he taught me was that composition is everything. The eye should travel around the painting, directed by objects or faces or just the 'flow" of the scenery. That's a great composition. The barrel of the Churchill is directed over the viewers right shoulder, the rifles and faces direct you left, right and above. There is a feeling of menace - a sniper, a faust about to pop from a window? Safe area or not, the soldiers are not relaxed and their tension is evident. I hope you post the finished image here for us to enjoy.
@Slamdancer did you ever paint this one? I've always had a strong interest in Operation Veritable in general and the Churchill tank in particular.
I don't want to hijack the thread, but I never realized there was so much interest in a depiction of the destroyers in the Taffy 3 fight. Several years back I had intended on doing a mixed media picture of the fight, something along the lines of some of Dwight Shepler's work. I did a bunch of sketch's trying to work out my idea's. I'll post some in a separate thread if there's any interest. Might even take the time to complete a finished piece.
I agree. The exploits of Taffy 3 drew me into increased interest in WW2. Anything you have would be of intense interest to me.
