    From further online search for Larry F. Kirby or Lawrence F Kirby, I did not find evidence that he is no longer with us ...

    Larry Kirby is alive and well! He and his wife just attended my daughters wedding. His book is "Stories from the Pacific: The Island War 1942-1945".

    The fact that Mr. Kirby is alive is certainly good news. I'll be sure to look for his book. Thanks for the post. It really helps to know.
