On a personal note, I think the correct spelling of place names is important to preserve the knowledge for the future and out of respect for those that died there... No-one died at Stalgrind... Thousands perished at Stalingrad.
Believe me it was not intended like that. just making you aware. if you are seriously interested in history, especially military history, it is one of those things which must be corrected. Details are important. Trust me i have read and written enough to realise that detail is important. getting small things wrong really pull down work of any kind.
PrinceMooCow, I can assure you no one here intended any disrespect by their comments. Unfortunately the internet doesn't allow for one's verbal inflection to come through, and a comment that was intended to be helpful or friendly might otherwise come across gruff or forceful. I've known Mahross, TheRedBaron and Stefan for quite a while now, and I can assure you that although they might disagree, they are decent folk. Most importantly, they are people who actually care about history and their posts were motivated by that concern. I would say that all in all you got quite a good response in this thread. After all, you got some great responses (text, images and links) as an answer to your initial question about Stalingrad (Stalgrind). Welcome to the Forums PMC
No worries Prince and apologies if I came across badly. I was genuinly wondering if it was a reference to a film or something that I managed to miss or a genuine error (hey, we all make mistakes, my spelling sucks). Welcome to the forum, hope you stick about and make the most of your time here.
Another little known factiod, of infoid is that 30 % of russian steel production was done in south. So Stalingrad & caucasus region was important for this reason as well. This is something I have read. If someone a little more-in-the-know on Russian steel production can join in here, & make further comment, yay or nay regarding above statement it would be good.
