A case study that has to deal with publishers who wish to hit a target price range won't have the room. Remember, Stranger in a Strange Land was edited to hit the "magical" $12.95 hardback price range, IIRC.

And, as before, my position is clearly stated in this thread. No leaps needs. Just quote me and take it from there.

This will require that one actually reads the thread instead of engaging in Pushme-Pullyou debates.

I've never read the book. Come to admit, I never knew there was a book. This thread spawns my interested actually, and I rarely read fiction anymore.

The move, well eh...I'd rather watch Denise Richards in "Wild Things".

Denise doesn't even get skinny in the movie. She's there to smile and bounce a lot.

I thought the book had some decent idea's. The idea that those who are willing to sacrifice themselves for others, are more likly to vote for the betterment of everyone and not just themselves does IMO have some merit. Today people vote for themselves. They elect the man who best represents their views and will work to make things better for you, but not always for all. I thought this was more of what was trying to be conveyed in the book. Those responsible enough to give up things for the betterment of the whole, are more likly to think about the whole rather then just themselves when it come time to vote. Remember, the idea wasn't always to serve so you could get a vote. In the book, I recall it mentioning that 80% of the armed services were from colony planets who wouldn't have earned a vote by serving anyways.
