That's kind of where I was thinking. I wonder what lies under the lining of the tin?

Well thanks...bugger me...it could be a belt buckle on a bakerlite condom box?

I didn't see a person hobbling about on crutches at Malvern today. :)

Guess you couldn't get out of the house then for a "newspaper".

This looks like a casting of a political leaders buckle. The relief and detail is very lacking when compared to a known period political leader buckle. I'd imagine that good clear close up pictures would reveal evidence of casting.

Not too sure that a POW would be in possession of a political buckle Skipper. But I agree that things like this were made just as you described.

Not police...I can see how a novice would think that. The design is that of a German Political Leader belt buckle....although the detail is soft and the color is wrong. In my opinion this is a fantasy piece...made after the war to fool the average collector.

A size would be helpful...if you have calipers take a cm and mm measurement and I can compare it to a few known original buckles.

Simple deduction here gents. Take a look...I pointed out just 5 casting issues with these photos. They both have the same flaws...meaning that they both came from the same broken down casting mold. These are fishing weights and nothing more.

Tks rrcollector. So the two lids are from the same mold hence same flaws so not belt buckles. Not a collector. So I'll just keep it on mantle. Might even use it as a baccy holder for my occasional pipe so not wasted. Good job I'm not a ww2 collector. I'll stick to my Don Quixote collection.

Any one want to buy an art decco clock that chimes minus 3 times on the hour?

Sorry - I've got that one. It's 100% genuine : I got it from a man who danced with a woman who danced with a man who danced with Albert Speer's wife. It's amazing that the quartz mechanism still works perfectly after all those years......:p

I don't think it's from the same mold....with out good pictures who knows really. It could very well be something legit...but my years tell me that this was made in the 60's or 70's to sell to tourists or to the local area Vet at a gun show.
