I have just finished reading The Forsaken Army and it is an excellent read highly recommended.

I am now starting In Deadly Combat which also looks a fantastic read.

Can anyone inform if The Crack of Doom by Willi Hienrich is worth reading and what is it about?

Also has anyone read As Far As My Feet Will Carry Me by J M Bauer?

    And finally Grenadiers opinions please.

    Thanks

Crack of Doom by Willi Heinrich (cross of iron author)

    Grenadiers by Kurt Meyer

    Thanks

Far As My Feet Will Carry Me by J M Bauer

Heres what they say at amazon

    It is a true story

Clemens Forell, a German soldier, was sentenced to 25 years of forced labour in a Siberian lead mine after World War II. Rebelling against the brutality of the camp, Forell staged a daring escape enduring an 8000-mile journey across the trackless wastes of Siberia, in some of the most treacherous and inhospitable conditions on earth. Bauer's writing evokes Forell's desperation in the prison camp, and his struggle for survival and terror of recapture as he makes his way towards the Persian frontier and freedom

Just seeing if anyone has read it.

Crack of doom here is what ive found out already

His second book called "Crack of Doom" is also good. It takes place during the retreat across the Balkans. A third book called "Mark of Shame" has proven to be difficult to locate. If anyone knows anything about the scenario I would appreciate hearing about it.

Also The Long Walk looks interesting

I am buying this book again 30 years after I first read it.The author was a Polish officer, captured in the forgotten war as Stalin invaded Eastern Poland as Germany attacked the West. This true story is not just an extraordinary escape from one of Stalin's Siberian camps, across the cold of Siberia,a crossing of the Gobi desert and the Himalaya, all by foot, but also a story of hardship and injustice

    Oh I didnt know that.

Its still an excellent read and until I look into the fact/fiction issue I couldnt really tell you what I think.

However while reading it I believe some poetic license might have been taken with certain conversations. Also the author claims he had to have hypnotherapy to remember his manuscript. Which could be the reason for others thinking it is fiction ie errors etc in the novel.

Before I know it all the books I have just read will turn out to be possible fakes ie Guy Sjer! ;)
