Its funny how the next round works out. Some mammoth clashes - Brazil vs Netherlands, Argentina vs. Germany - but also some pretty unexciting ones - Uruguay vs Ghana, Spain vs Paraguay. Hopefully the mammoths provide entertaining games!
I was surprised france lost ALL their games and the teams werent even that great, Spain isnt doing that well either; losing to switzerland and narrowly winning against insignifigant teams. Argentina seem to be doing well- im looking forward to watching them play Germany on 3rd July; Germany are doing well despite surprisingly losing to Serbia, id expect Germany to be in the final; they've been in the final at least 3 times recently (although usually losing). Im also surprised that italy got beaten badly as they won the world cup last time, Holland are doing quite well although i think their next opponent is Brazil- what an embarassment if the mighty Brazil lost!
I'd hardly call Portugal an insignificant team...France cheated to qualify for the tournament and obviously had a lot of issues headed into the WC. Argentina was in a weak group and I am still not sold on them, not to mention facing a Mexico team isn't all that good in general. Germany haven't been in the final recently - 4 years ago it was Italy vs France in the final. I'm also not sold on the Germans - a relatively weak group too and beating England this year isn't saying much given Englands recent play (not qualifying for Euro 2 years ago, etc). I do agree that the Netherlands are playing well but Brazil (as the #1 ranked team in the world) would be expected to beat them.
World cup 2002, it was Brazil vs Germany i remember watching it live; it was a tense game, i think ronaldohino (spelling) scored the winning goal and it was 2-0. But yeah unfortunately my team are declining
Oops! Just how many of these unhappy players were there in the England team???? Ashley Cole: I hate England | The Sun |News FLOP Ashley Cole sent a disgraceful message to pals days before flying out to the World Cup - snarling: "I hate England and the f***ing people!" The Chelsea defender shared the astonishing insult with pals using his BlackBerry hours before he boarded a flight to England's pre-World Cup training camp in Austria.
Well, Real Madrid seem to be targeting Gerrard and Cole this offseason. Should be lots of interesting signings and transfers post-WC.

YES YES!!! Holland and Brazil get ready for battle Port Elizabeth is the venue for one of the most intriguing ties of the World Cup, as Holland take on Brazil in the quarter-finals (3pm). Brazil and Holland have met on nine previous occasions; the South Americans have won three while the Dutch have come out on top twice, with the other four games ending in draws.
If it lives up to expectations, it should a pretty brilliant game. Certainly better then Uruguay vs Ghana
Goodbye Brazil!!!!! Holland kicked ass and won 2-1 . They started 0-1 but scored twice shortly after, not to mention that they would have deserved a penalty for a hand . It was a great game. They played five times , won five times!
Go Holland!!! If any European team were capable of knocking the Brazillians out, it was Holland. This may even set up a repeat of 1974....this time, the Dutch may have the talent and discipline to go all the way, rather than falling at the last fence to a goal from Gerd Muller, ("Der Bomber"). Hoping for Argentina to knock the Germans for six.....they and the Dutch are the only ones that can. But, Futbol is a funny ol' game!
