Dude, this "my beloved" thing has got to stop. Seriously. And what's with the post inflation, isn't there a rule about that?
Why?! I can call the person I love in anyway I like and I don't see why is it wrong. And no, I don't think there's any rule about that. We just post a lot. Some times few messages, some times very long ones. Please tell me what you find wrong and we can discuss it maturely. I don't want ugly discussions and closed topics as it has happened sometimes.
Now don't go getting your undies all in a knot! You are right, you can refer to your lover in any way you like, but not here. I have a girlfriend, but I don't talk about her here, because it's not a WWII topic, and neither is your boyfriend. It is also pretty obvious that you are trying very hard to catch Carl Evans, you may do it eventually, but all of his posts are relevant and informative. Much of yours are just idle banter. And yes there is a rule about frivolous posts and post inflation: http://www.ww2forums.com/etiquette.shtml [ 26 September 2002, 10:01 PM: Message edited by: Peppy ]
I was under the impression that topics in the FREE FIRE forum were specifically intended NOT to be about WW2. "Any non-WW2 topic is fair game here." Hmmmm... And I must say, if you're going to accuse Friedrich of being chatty (which he is!), you're going to have to accuse quite a few others... Including Carl... all of us get chatty now and again. This is a very friendly and enjoyable forum... I'd like to see it remain that way.
Ditto Crazy. Hmmm let me see "Free Fire Zone Any non-WW2 topic is fair game here. As well, use this area to give us your input on ways to improve the forums or new forums you would like to see." Looks clear enough to me. You keep chatting Friedrich and everyone else.
As far as I am concerned, I have made friends with most of you and what I like the most about this forum is that the majority of us treat each other as such. Being that we are located globally, this is our venue to "chat" and I for one am glad to be a part of this group. When I see things that bother me, I ignore it and go on. That is my recommendation. If anybody does not like what goes on here, then create your own site and have at it. I prefer this one the way it is. A contributor has spoken, so it shall be done. PzJgr : I think you probably misread Peppy's posting. What you have to say is irrelevent. Peppy is correct by stating the rules posted in the origianl form through Moderator Otto and he has been on this board almost at it's foundation so he should know what is going on. Short postings with no pertantent info should be deleted and I am much to blame as anyone else. I am going to try my best to stick with the guidlines and post material that will be of benefit to all not just a singular person........sos with that said.....
I don't know, Erich... if we get too strict about what a posting "has to have" as far as relevance goes, I think this forum will become far less enjoyable. Maybe some of the more frivolous posts are not necessary, but what do they really hurt? I'd be very suprised ot see multiple pages of nonsense... Maybe here and there people do get too chatty, but if we get rid of that this place runs the risk of becoming too formal and boring... And I must take issue here... if Peppy wants to comment on Friedrich being a bit chatty, I guess that's OK... But what about Knight Templar's conduct? Simply taking random quotes and posting them in the middle of a thread? Is that OK? And even what about my use of language? I apologized for that, but it recieved basically no comment from the mods... Why no comment there? My point being, there have been far more important issues than Friedrich being chatty. Especially in the "Free Fire" area. Also, PzJgr has a good point- almost all the people in here I see as TWO things- accomplished WW2 buffs (hence the "relevant" posts) and, second- friendly, enjoyable people- some of the "chatty" posts show people's personalities, make things more friendly. Only my 2 cents... [ 27 September 2002, 11:16 AM: Message edited by: CrazyD88 ]
Erich, I do believe it is revelent. I have read the rules under proper etiquette and I do not see anywhere in there that states that topics have to be WWII related. It does state to keep to the topic at hand. Please present the area where Peppy makes his point. I have presented the definition of what goes under free fire so where was the infraction? I am not trying to be difficult but Crazy makes a point where "if we get too strict about what a posting "has to have" as far as relevance goes, I think this forum will become far less enjoyable." The only revelent point that is made is on post inflation but it does not seem to be mischieviously intentional.
You will all be assimilated...... My point is taken by both of you......stay on topic ! personally, the Free fire zone has got to go ! It has nothing to do with WW2.com as a main line header, but I am not the moderator. If you have read some of Otto's latest entries you would see that he is not as his computer conituanlly to make comments, updates or deletion of non-wanted posts. In time it will happen when he gets back on-line on a more permanet basis / Ok enough of this...... E
The Free Fire Zone Thread is very relevent to a public forum. Specifically for any discussion about current events in the world or heck related to members...or comments etc. Sometimes a post is short...sometimes they are long...but i review most of the posts here and almost all responses are relevent to the topic posted...even if it is something as simple as condolences towards someone who was mugged or something. The only thing that i have had to question are certain images posted here. Nonetheless, it is my opinion that Free Fire Zone = anything goes...except for offensive material. If anyone is THAT oppssed to it...bring it up with the one who can give you an answer...and that is Otto.
It's your opinion and as I gave mine. Good we can disagree to agree on this as it shows we are human with good consciences......geez what the heck is goi
Friedrich, Just came across this thread. Sorry to hear about this, dude! Not very nice loosing your beamer like that. Especially when guns are involved. Know what that feels like. Take a shot of tequilla! STevin
The most important thing though--is that a forum member was not hurt because of a robbery. In Nebraska--just what--yesterday or the day before, five people were killed during a bank robbery. Than GOD, that the criminals were apprehended. I truely feel very sorry for the five who were murdered. I like these forums very much and have made some nice new friends here. Someday I would like to meet each and every one of my friends in person. Heh heh, if you guys ever come to Texas--you will be treated to the best darn BBQ or steak, that you have ever eaten. Now if your a vegitarian--I would buy you a good dinner at Johnny Carinos or the Olive Garden. If you preferr--even at Dennys. Erich--I KNOW you would like The Cracker Barrel, or Taste of Texas, Doc--you would probably like Johnny Carinos.
I believe I've mentioned in the past- you Texans can be a real pain in my rear!!! But textbooks aside, I'd love to visit Texas someday (and I really can't complain about TX caring about it's textbooks)... (And, hey, MA is a pretty good state as well!) BUT Carl... the "best" barbecue? Oh, now that's a claim. You are talking to the person who makes his own BBQ sauce using the recipe- get ready for this- that Mary, the housekeeper for ELVIS, used. So you think your BBQ is "King", eh? Well, sometime I may just show up down to the Lone Star state and take you to task on that BBQ...
Well I think a mini-reunion is needed ! The past year a half Carl has been tempting me with all these Texas treats and I think it is quite plausible that we all get down here to the BIG STATE and munch till we drop ! whatdoya think ye all ? In fact the author of our books(s) lives in austin so I should think very strongly to hang a roscoe and com on over...... and how about scans of our members too. Sure wish I coudl put a face with a name somehow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! E gettin over the yuks
PzJgr--your definately invited down here for the shindig. Gary will supply the Beer, Greg will supply his Iron Crosses. Gary will pay our tab if we eat at the Texas Roadhouse--home of the 96 oz steak. I'd look forward to seeing you in Dallas sometime. I havent been up that way since I was coming home from Frankfurt Germany back on Oct 16th 2000. And only then was I at the Airport. Crazy--Heh heh heh. I too have a few friends in MA, one in Oxford and the other living in the countryside just a few miles down the road. He is a bigtime Imperial German Militaria collector and ex-NFL pro. I cant say we have the best BBQ sauce--thats usually homemade and mixed with a certain amount of Jack Daniels. The best BBQ sauces I ever had was made in Elgin, Tx--this stuff really was good. Next best is Lowrys sauces. Our BBQ definatly IS THE BEST. I'd be more than happy to have you as a guest here sometime--just wait till I get another job so I can afford taking you to the Texas Roadhouse and come hungry. Erich--yep a meeting is needed. Its been fun taunting you over the last 18 months, with some of the better things that you only can get in Texas. Scans would be nice--Gary can handle that without problems. Peppy has to come to add more spice, as well as Otto--since he will bankroll all of your travelling expenses to Texas--hotel rooms etc. For our starving friends from England Paul, Bish, Martin et el--your welcome to come but, you have to bring something--like eh British Teas. Stevin, Kai, Andreas--to also add to that international flavor--and bring planty of Chocolates. Volkbert gets to come as well--so he can give me some of his militaria Ryan can come but I get his ww1 medals. Friedrich can also come--and I get to have his BMW to cruise around in MP-39 can bring his guns....... Whoever isnt mentioned can come as well--Ron--can give me his computer, and Andy can share his humor.
What a bloody hoot this would be Carl. I'm sold right now !....burp !, well not yet but......96 oz did you say ? Holy cow patty..... !
