Stood in my old back garden in Leicester, and heard guitar on the wind.
Turned round to the missus and said: "sounds like BB King." And thought no more of it.
Found out the next day he'd been playing a free gig on a park not two minutes walk away.
    Still faintly rankles...

I got some tickets (close to the front) for the upcoming Eagles concert in Toronto.

Painful to miss those opportunities right under you nose. Had a lucky stroke myself back in the 90s when Depeche Mode came to Toronto. I worked the show as security, stationed stage left. Didn't even know I had the gig until the day before. That was the best money I ever made.

Depeche Mode. Was shocking to me how unknown they were in some parts of the US when I went south of the border for my university education. So very good they are, and unlike many musical groups, their music ages so very well.

Up for some European power metal anyone? And it's music about WW2 history too.

Although probably their best song is about Vietnam rather than WW2.

"Pat Benatar is great. For me it started with heartbreaker..."

PB had a great voice. But as a sex symbol...Compared to Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt etc she was a little thin. Cher was way hotter... Just this country boys opinion. Cheers.

The first line was a quote from another member...
-My bad for no quotation marks. Pat Benatar was, in my mind , payola. Just like Avril Levigne and [jerk] Chad Croger [whatever] [nickelback]. Think the radio industry here MADE us [not me] like those 2 Canadian fools.
We have to listen to a certain amount of Canadiana here. It is mandated by the CRTC...Thus Nickelback and Avril Lavigne.
Who chooses what to broadcast what over the air, and how often?..This is important. ...Payola lives.

Benatar was a bit poppy...which is why you like her matey....I liked the one I put up but not much else.

Forget Camoflage...this one will get our USA cousins reaching for their guns...

Sorry not my fault...been surrounded by Birmingham accents lately...and again at weekend...Birmingham UK not Alabama...

And here we have the answer as to how popular music is truly distributed... Hyped radio play. ..What a perfect story to demonstrate our conversation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixto_Rodriguez http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6bjqdll7DI&feature=c4-overview&playnext=1&list=TLLxgM3bCBAMw

Retrospectively. This song is awesome, and could see how it would make the charts. ..It is the machine that determines. Rarely the consumer. ..It is better now, back in the day it was records. Then 8 track, then cassette if you wanted to be portable...
Remember -when buddy had some company supplying skiers with newfangled contraption that strapped around yer chest, containing a cassette player and headphones. ..The Walkman had not even been invented. The device tended to skip when bumped [cassette]. And the batteries were- meh...So this new fangled thingy was a hit on the slopes. Anyone who carried it was gold. They MUST know how to ski. Because they had a thing that cost a lot of money and it would skip if you couldn't ski right. That is where I first heard Kraftwerk...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-G28iyPtz0

I fixed it for you. You need to be sure to place the "http://" in front of the youtube url for it to work.

I'm keeping with the House music, how about funky French House duo Daft Punk?

    They've just released this masterpiece
