Love the youtube. Can spend hours listening to music. ..Like these guys as well. Dengue Fever, Tiger Phone Card: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zTckGk6eBjM
Listening to Little Lil, I could not help thinking that I was listening to the Stray Cats back in the early 80's.
The Silver Shine. They are from Budapest. Great video in an old castle. Angels To Some: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TehjTZRy48o
However, when it comes to Hillbilly music, you can't be the Notting Hillbillies: Roll, roll, roll https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AkT12FGKx5s
Yep. The Stray Cats were playing 50's music. By the bye, their drummer - Slim Jim Phantom- was married to Britt Ekland, almost 20 years her junior in 1984. Divorced after a kidlet in '92. She was so hot back in the day. Peter Sellers was insanley jealous when the two were married...Ahh, music history.
Hey, forgot aboot those guys MrT. Can feel Mark Knopfler in there. ..Years after the big hit- Dire Straights- Money For Nothing- there was a huge backlash regarding the lyrics. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tTmpzfyChw
My friends mostly do not agree with my choices in music. But they listen to radio play. Payola. The Payolas with Carol Pope- Never Said I Loved You: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYZEBJiS-NU
I'm liking that Neo-Rockabilly stuff. Some of the references are to Psycho-Billy. Here's the original rockabilly guy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WIvZfGen1lM
Yeah. But where does that feel of music originate. How far back do we go. Carl was safe and white. Did a great job...Took a while for the industry to really acknowledge where rock and roll came from...Little Richard did a lot...Folk were terrified by the music back in the day. Some of the video's about record burnings, the Beatles, what John said about the Beatles / Jesus, Elvis, etc etc is really telling in retrospect. In a way, recounting NA music history mirrors human rights history in the Western world?...(been drinking- burp). My version of drunk history. ahahaha. great show http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBVnKYOvWcs
Well, rockabilly was thang, see? A fusion of fast country/bluegrass and rock. Buddy Holly is the most famous, but Carl Perkins was the original. In the 80's, Stray Cats brought it back to life for a while. It's just cool to see it coming back, from Europe of all places.
Agree. Those beats would never have happened without the Blacks. Delta blues- Slave songs etc. Goes way before Elvis, Carl, or any other white artist. White media stole the rythms. Regurgitated it, made Elvis.
Well, since Poppy has been drinking... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5gydvllKdM and if he is drunken and watching SciFi...The video has nothing to do with the song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4YXyhg2Euo
One of my personal favorites from that era...from 1959, just like this better than his 1st version from 1955. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MS9fk1u6kA
And the one-and-only Chuck Berry http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvKDr8AgvK8 and for Poppy his "My Ding-a-Ling" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgS6nqzzRCQ
Was shocked to learn what Chucks' song was aboot as a kidlet. He subsequently tuned out to be actually creepy. James Brown has the belt- only because of his seniority to Michael Jackson...But CB did contribute a lot to RR history. Doc Watson. Tennessee Stud. Tells a good story. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5c1k949Zn4
With all this guitar pickin' going on, I feel the need for some "Classical Gas." A Two fer! The original with Mason Williams and then covered by Tommy Emmanuel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNl4l15x8Pc
Ah, the orchestra. Posted this back on page neener, but it is so hard to go back there. And it's a great tune. Conquistador by Procol Harem and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW2KN7Tz89s
