Wow! Adam ant fans. Been a fan since Kings of the wild frontier. I am happy he got over the phase he was afraid of getting on stage. Anybody been on the tour he had a couple of years back? Been listening to Utravox recently as I bought a massive collection from one chap who had all the 12" and 7" and albums from various countries especially Japan. For some reason I am still a fan of 12" versions as they bring up the song so that you hear the different parts of the song like the bass, guitars, synth etc. Also Freez I.O.U. is a great song! I read that Picnic at the whitehouse had "we need protection" originally sang by Terence Trent D´arby. I´d like to hear that!
Though i wasn't alive back in the 70s .... the 70s was an good period for music... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwcJ5WQSamQ
Thanks KP. Would bet we'd visit and listen to our wax if the 5000 km didn't separate us... Always enjoyed reading the record albums/sleeves for writers, musicians, locations, Studio's, pictures, stories. CD's just don't cut it. Records are coming back in style. ..I'm hip. There is a good biography of LZ. Interesting reading. ..Am a little disappointed with LZ. It looks like they ripped off some music...Doesn't take away from the good times had while listening to them back in the day. Recall coming back from the bar. Buddy was driving a sweet Ford(?) Cougar. There were a bunch of flashing work horse type of barriers indicating construction ahead. 2 door car filled with 6 drunk teenagers. Driver says : "Who dares me to hit a construction sign?", we all agree. Buddy smashes into it, for the luck of Allah, the barrier flies up and over the winshield. Prolly would have taken us all out. Then he hits the next one. And the next one. ..Insane night. And that's what rock and roll does. Not booze. Smoke On The Water. ..viewer warning. Pat Boone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFDIrwOUdrw
This guy isn't all that well known. He came into light when the documentary Searching For Sugar Man came out in 2012. But here is I Wonder by Rodriguez https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6bjqdll7DI
To all of your surprise the youth in Finland was asked for the worst band forever: the winner was CCR. Sorry about that... Faith no more is making a new album I guess it´s out late March. Hope it´s any good or has at least a couple of good songs.
In a way, I can understand that. CCR's bigger fan base was more in the US especially since a lot of people here associate them with Vietnam and they were real popular during that era.
I personally love CCR. Rap seems to be today´s hit among youth. I have listened to Gary Numan lately as I learnt that Trent Reznor listened to his music while making the first album. then again I always liked Numan music. Tonight I will listen to co-operation between Covedale and Page. I just love it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coverdale_and_Page_(album)
I used to be an avid fan of rap, but then I kept listening to it over and over again. Now I'm just kind of fed up with it. It sounds better when it's being played in an arena but I don't listen to it near as much as I used to.
TV and newspapers this weekend have been full of interviews and articles with Jimmy Page - the occasion being the 40th Anniversary reissue of Physical Graffiti ( 40th ! Yikes ! I've still got my original double album somewhere, bought when it came out....)
Ha. Bought mine on cassette. Doh. Wanted to be able to play in my car. At least it wasn't on 8 track. Cheers Martin.
I suppose it's the sme everywhere...but we have a 40 year backlog of awesome Australian music that was never exported...from the Easy beats...to Cold Chisel to Australian Crawl to Mental as Anything to Mondo Rock etc etc...All classics here, never heard of over seas... Pops...Utube Khe Sanh by Cold Chisel...it's an unofficial Aussie anthem...a classic if there ever was.
Yeah, Khe San has that country beat which I'm liking more as age sets in...Thinking payola had a lot to do with how music is/was distributed. This guy had no idea he was famous until a film crew tracked him down. Excellent movie: Searching For Sugar Man- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QL5TffdOQ7g
Throughout that whole documentary I actually thought that he was dead like they said in the beginning. I was shocked when they discovered that he was still alive. Very surprising plot twist. He has great music, and he is a great songwriter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWjUuWzF43I
