Tbh. I find that Slayer "South Of Heaven" and "Seasons In The Abyss" are better than "Reign In Blood" They are slower but have more athmosphere imo. But I also like some electronic music eg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7K72X4eo_s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6bmnOLoHl4
I can see your point...SOH is a favourite and did plenty of new things...on one hand its a preference thing for sure...but from a musical point of view Reign in blood cannot be beat...by any album...every song has something in it...Alter of Sacrifice has the best lead solo I've ever heard (I have a top ten) the solo goes for about 5 seconds...but fits so much to perfection that you don't realise thats the solo...Angel of Death, won Tom Araya a Jewish literary award for his lyrics, the Nazis point of view in the first half and the Jew's in the second...best metal song ever in my opinion, it lacks nothing. Raining Blood is a song my old band used to open with because it's such a good song to get people going...Dave Lombardo is the best drummer I have ever heard...no speed pedals for this purist...the only drummer to drop my jaw. To throw you a gem...a 90s Australian electronic band called 'itchy and scratchy' new stuff there...
Of course RIB is top. I consider "SOH" to be the same "outbreak" out of speed metal as Metallica "....and Justice..." to more progressive ways. Cool did you play in a metal band ? I only made some electronic stuff I think the ex-Mayhem drummer (name?) is also quite cool. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ4GbcuBvUQ
Ahem...Slayer played 'Thrash'...the fastest music ever created...faster than that pedestrian speed metal! : ) Yes, I was in a Thrash band called 'Undead' (you might see the Slayer reference there)...we were quite successful for a self starter band...in fact we got so successful, we threw it in...it got too much work and we wanted to smoke more green...we still jammed regularly (and attract crowds outside our houses!)
The the "Infected". An album I cannot get enóugh ever. Or the "Kings of the wild frontier"... Cheers guys, Great music everythign above.
Massive attack and unfinished sympathy was a big hit for me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWmrfgj0MZI Electribe 101 was also great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUoeCsLj4aw Fashion Do you wanna make love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyNpWetG_eE Love shadow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ocgkKB43xs Fiction factory Victoria victorious https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx15RsBNj8w Just ask me about the 80´s music anything.... well almost...
Such a shame about Large Oilrig, I can never forgive him for Napster... Something weird happened to the Kennedys, of all the bands to have internal legal nonsense... East bay Ray etc. Sued Jello and have now released re-recorded best-of tracks without his sainted presence, so you now have to shop uber carefully even there, to avoid getting pastiche nonsense. Jello's recent output well worth a listen. http://youtu.be/dfnOFvZvEuA http://youtu.be/TRcJU8ejwzs Mmmm, New Model... Loooong relationship with NMA here. And genuine surprise at the new album's quality. It actually sounds like New Model Army! http://youtu.be/luu3-At0qJA
You do sometimes wonder where all the edginess has gone. And then you have to slap yourself for being a silly old bugger! Still much fine stuff being made, just harder for us old gits to keep up with. Sprog alpha is gradually introducing me to a track or two now it's hit 13. Quite encouraging... And they both like the Kennedys .
I heard that Faith no More is making a new album...maybe something to listen to, hopefully. Midlife crisis was a great song although I was 25 at the time... I loved the "Everything´s ruined" as it suited my girlfriend at the time and it was a great song, too.
Last time I saw Faith No more (an embarrassingly long time ago), they were blown off the stage by their support. Never a good thing for the headliner. Strange grunting fella squatting on top of the stacks... http://youtu.be/-o44zKQJ8do Dug out some FNM recently. Sounds 'thin' these days to my ear. Overdue a remaster for digital output.
I saw Faith no more at the ANU Australian National University in Canberra...in the cafeteria...so there was about 200 people...their stage was about a foot high, and he spent large amounts of time on the stage floor, so no one beyond the front could see him...but was an awesome gig...'Wake up! Your dead!'
Couldn't resist buying the remixed 'Physical Graffiti' CD among my supermarket shopping on Friday. Papers and TV have been full of Zep hype about it - I was quite shocked that it's come out to commemorate 40 years ( ) since the original - which I still have back at my Mum's house, having bought it the week it came out..........
Afroman. Needs to smoke a blunt and chill. Saw a longer version. He knew that was the lady who got up on stage, he even smiled when she did it. Then KABLAM! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ2u94YaDK0
I like Icehouse from Australia as well as INXS. Watched their videos during the weekend. Electric blue by icehouse is quite catchy I think...
