Peter Gabriel was always my favourite. For some reason I definitely like the "family and the fishing net" from album IV. Especially as at the same time Kate Bush had released "The Dreaming" it was excellent musicla time for me. The Dreaming https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2Wa0LdCsvM Sat in your lap https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4csr6pLZLg
I was still listening to Kansas and Foreigner (yeah, I know ) when my new roommate introduced me to PG and KB. He's been my best friend ever since. Coincidence? I think not! Sat in Your Lap is one of my favorite Kate Bush songs. I also love Cloudbursting and its official video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pllRW9wETzw One of Donald Sutherland's lesser known leading roles. Also, Running Up That Hill: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wp43OdtAAkM
I used to love this song, and clip...Utah Saints sampled this and created another awesome song...the only pet hate I have for the clip is the amount of fist pumps from D Surherland...count them and you start to run out of fingers...
Sounds like a candidate for a drinking game... [fist pump] :drink_a_pint: [fist pump] :drink_a_pint: [fist pump] :drink_a_pint: [fist pump]
I love and love this Steve Winwood song "Wake me up on judgement day"... God I love it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTFI9U0G4cw
A while back in this thread I mentioned that the 70s was a good era for music, I just can't help but mention that these guys also made the 70s a good music era: Peace of Mind by Boston https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WGRrOEbY3pI
Depends on the band, man, depends on the band. I swear, if you listened to all the Def Leppard albums, played back-to-back, one track sounds exactly like the next. That is one band that has not progressed to the next step.
I got to singing this song at work today...Otis Redding...Sitting on the Dock of the Bay. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PyxLaHmOaYM
Feel i need to 'splain. There was a time when payola forced music onto us. A time before the internet. There could be no other explanation for bands like De(a)f Leppard/ all hair bands, etc. Absolutely hated radio play back then, only CKUA as a standout. I had to rely on Spin Magagazine and Rolling Stone in order to buy music that wasn't force fed. Regret now spending so much money on magazines and tapes/records, that wont buy me a cup of coffee today.
Soooo...If I have this right. You did not like the music that the radio played, because it was "force fed" to you - Yet it was free, and you didn't have to pay a dime. Instead, you payed for the privilege of being "force fed" music by buying Spin and Rolling Stone? What makes you think Spin and Rolling Stone were not payola driven? Maybe we just had a better selection of radio stations here in the US.
Wellll, let me inform you. Not sure if you were ever a part of the music scene (going to bars/concerts pay for admission). WE had AM and FM. None of our stations played any sort of alternative music. We listened to what they fed us every day going to and from work. Thank god for CKUA. Was able to hear music that would never be played on usual radio. And SPIN/RS simply had good articles. Could choose wether to read about a band / not have it force fed. Learned a lot. Found a lot of good artists that I'd never be exposed to here in AB. Am proud of my music history knowledge. Anyone who lists def leppard as their favorite band, has no taste. A guy with one arm playing drums- laughable.
We've had JJJ or Triple J for decades...its Government funded, no adds, and only alternative music...as much Australian music as they can get their hands on...cool announcers, interviews and new music all the time...

There is a re-release of the Dead Kenndys singles 7x7" with a little tougher cover board. had to buy that and hopefully listen next week. So fas been listening to A-ha and Thin Lizzy. Great stuff...
