    Correct on both.

    There were at least 3 BADs located in the UK, i.e. not a 'named' field such as Barksdale.

    How about "Base Area Depot" or "Base Ammunition Depot"?

    :) ;) It's BAD, so many to choose from. British Air Detachment, British Airborne Division

    Close, I guess there are a lot of possibilities. "Base Air Depot" is what I was looking for. They were major repair/modification centers for aircraft.

    Someone else post some new ones...

    Wow, looks like I poisoned this thread. :(

    6 days and not an attempt.

    Maybe a little hint.
    All are related to either aircraft or their crew.

    IIC - internal intercom?

    That's all I can think of.

    I used to post regulations for the 3d SUPCOM IG in the 80s. I feel the migraines returning. :eek: There is only one remedy! :headbash:

    All are related to Crew/Aircraft Status.

    FEH = Flying at end of hostilities
    IIC = Injured in crash
    XFER = Transferred out of group
    XTF = Transferred out of unit
    DUR = On base for duration of War
    FTR = Failed to return

    :) There doesn't seem to be much interest in this thread so I'll let it drop. If someone else wants to take it up then feel free.

    @ A-58, thanks for the reply.
    @ Steve Petersen :) Your headaches are over.

    On the contrary; I thought the thread was a great idea. I was only being facetious. The Army had/has a manual listing acronyms.

    Seems like acronyms are even taking over in the workplace. KWIM?

    I hope it didn't come off like I was feeling bad. :) It wouldn't be the first time a thread had dried up.

    ;) now let's test your theory.

    The following are all Target designations so this shouldn't be to difficult.
    First 2 listed should give a clue about the others.

    AC Aircraft
    AF
    Airfield
    CLS
    LR
    MT
    MY
    NOBALL
    ST
    TA
    TO

    CLS Claims of enemy destroyed
    LR Last resort target
    MT
    Motor transport
    MY
    Marshalling yard
    NOBALL V1 buzz / V2 rocket site
    ST
    Secondary target
    TA
    Target area
    TO
    Target of opportunity

    Here are the answers. I didn't think that I had made it to difficult, but I guess I was wrong.
    ;) Wouldn't be the first time and probably not the last either.

    The tread is no open again.
    Cheers

    Here's what I got. What's the verdict? :) Are any correct?

    TDY = Temporary Duty
    ETS = Expiration Of Term Of Service (scheduled Date Of Separation From Active Duty)
    AO = Administration Officer
    Hot A's = Hot food served to Soldiers while in the field.
    MP = Military Police

    All correct except for AO. AO means "area of operation". In the US military, an administration officer is the XO, or the Executive Officer.

    Back to you....

    AWOL - absent without leave
    CWO - chief warrant officer
    EOD - explosive ordnance disposal

    That's all I can figure out. Someone else will have to help me out.

    ;) Don't be.... sad, cause.... 3 out of 5 ain't bad. Ooops, got mixed up with a MeatLoaf song: :D 2 out of 3 ain't bad

    All three are correct. AWOL, could also be: Absent without Official Leave

    :) as for the other 2 a quick google search would give you the answers.
