Hi A/ That movie is Battle For the Last Panzer w/ Klaus Kinski. You and I are on the same page for that movie-I hated every second of this lousy piece of garbage and i've often billed it as the worst movie ever. ;-))
-Canada at War: Road to Ortona -One of our aircraft is Missing (1942) -Battlefield Mysteries: Who Killed Michael Wittmann? Siege of Malta, and The Bandits of the Air
Started and have been watching the Centennial Mini-series. Im done with four episodes so far. Tonight though, will be: The Plainsman w/ Gary Cooper. A nice oldie but goodie Western-post Civil War Western. Found this one by accident at W-M for $5 bucks! Can't beat that with a stick ;-))
More episodes of the mini-series: Centennial. These have Dennis Weaver in them as a Trail Boss on a Cattle Drive. Raphael Campos is the Cook for that drive. I don't know if any here remember this guy or not? but he had an important role in a movie that produced so many great Stars from it with those stars being in some of their first on-screen appearances. Anyway, he was one of the "punks" in the great Glenn Ford classic: The Blackboard Jungle. The two others im talking about who had important roles in this movie are: Vic Morrow and Sidney Poitier. Anyway, Campos could have easily been as "big" as both Morrow and Poitier, but didn't "take" too well, the ways of Hollywood. Campos could have easily been bigger than other actors who made it big who were Americans of Hispanic descent-like: Anthony Quinn, Cesar Romero and Ricardo Montalban.
Bought myself a couple of more WW2 films which I will be watching over the weekend. They are, Mosquito squadron & The guns of Navarone.
A BBC dvd documentary set called "Battlefields." Just finished watching the first two battles in the set: El Alamein and Monte Cassino. Oh yeah, before that, I had just watched with my Dad James Garner in the "Tank".
Hey Richard, please let me know your opinion of Mosquite Squadron will ya please? I almost bought a copy of it a few years ago but someone on this site tiold me to save my Nickels and Dimes.
Tank was a pretty good Garner film. I have it on DvD. One of my most favorite lines from that movie was when Garner was on the Parade Field and said: "Your Divisional Sergeant Major Is All Alone On The Parade Field"!! Forgot to mention, this morning I watched another Bogart classic I had never seen before and still don't have a copy of-which is: Tokyo Joe. This film also stars one of my top three favorite Japanese Actors--Sessue Hayakawa. Also, several movie and Tv "recognizable faces" are in this movine including Whit Bissell-who was the general on: The Time Tunnel, and also the Beavs Dad-Ward Cleaver--Hugh Beaumont. that was also the 2nd movie that Bogie made as an Indy actor with his own Production Company and also the first American post war movie to have scenes shot in Japan. BTW, the name of Bogies production Company was: Santana. Also, on right now, a classic John "Duke" Wayne, War Movie: The Fighting Seabees. ;-))
-Cities of the Underworld-Okinawa: Tunnels of Hell -For Valor: Heroes of the Victoria Cross -Fields of Sacrifice, a National Film Board of Canada short
The Flying Tigers which has one of my favorite Duke lines when he lands his P-40 his chinese mechanic runs up and points to the bullet holes. In true John Wayne style he replies "Termites" a real classic
Not bad film, bought it cheap. The start of the film seem to be pinched or borrowed from Operation Crossbow, and if the Dam Busters can do it on a lake they did it on land. Pace of the film was steady and generally not bad, on the whole a good entertaining film for a hour & half.
Thanks Mate. I will see if it is still offered here locally? and or @ DDDvD.com. Isn't this the movie with David McCallum in it? Currently watching the one and ONLY great version of a classic: The Maltese Falcon-which stars Humphrey Bogart, Sydney Greenstreet, Ward Bond, Barton MacLane, and some other "recogonizable faces". Prior to this version, there were two other earlier versions of this movie. I've seen them both and they both were lousy. Only Bogart could have pulled it off. ;-)) Later today, TCM will be playing a (billed for the one an only time as: Steven McQueen) Steve McQueen classic: The Blob. Todays viewing is going to be a bountiful one ;-))
Ah ha, thought so ;-)) Thanks Richard ;-)) Also, just finished watching: Hunt For The Red October. Man Sean Connery was as always, bad-asssssss. Shame he retired or so it seems?
^Oh he'll make a comeback sooner or later (I hope). As for me, I spent most of the day watching docs on History Television. -Turning Points of History:The Dieppe Raid -Bloody Normandy (God, those Hitlerjugend were real bastards). -Ten Days to Victory: Part 1. -Battle of the Medak Pocket (A battle between Canadian peacekeeping troops and the Croat Army in 1993).
Hi Phantom, i sure wish he would ;-)) This evening, the World Premier (on my TV) of the Zorro TV series done by Disney-will be starting to air this evening ;-))
Yesterday: -Ten Days to Victory: Part 2. -Bloody Italy -The Black Watch: Massacre at Verrières Ridge. Today: -A War of their Own: The Canadians in Sicily and Italy (War Amps doc) -Vimy Ridge: Heaven to Hell -Passchendaele: The Underground War
