Yeah I don't understand it either with the whole 'u' thing in colour. I think it has something to do with the fact that we are a commonwealth nation and therefore were taught by the 'proper' English back during the creation of this nation, and for some reason we kept it.

Any way, i have tried watching a lot of old war movies but I have found many to be unrealistic and dont portray everything I have learnt about the war, I know its a movie, but if they are telling you facts then they should do it right. I do understand that in the past the films area of hollywood were still learning the finer points of making movies and that they lacked the technology and all.

However upon saying that I will always watch "A Bridge too Far" and "The Longest Day" love em both. "His boots are on the wrong feet" hehe love that bit.

Well, since somebody already mentioned Buffy, I'll have to admit that's the last show I watched last night. I only get to watch an average of an hour and a half of TV lately at home because of the hectic pace at work. And by the time I'm home from work at 11 p.m., Buffy's the only show I can stand to watch.

I was wondering if anyone, besides me, had ever seen this particular film. Came out in 1945 and I first saw it when I was about 10 years old. In my mind it remains still one of my favorite WWII films. Burgess Meridith portrayed the war correspondent ERNIE PYLE. IMO, this is a must see film and I believe it is now out on DVD.

    All the best!

A very interesting show on PBS called "CARRIER". It's like a 10 part series onboard the carrier Nimitz. PBS channel, meaning it's also commercial free.
    Great show.

Ahhh, a Jeffrey Hunter and Marshall Thompson fan ;-)) It's a shame both of them did not have long careers.

I picked this movie up on DvD when it was released. It's a good time filler.

I saw it for the first time about two years ago. I think your right about it being out on DvD. Thanks for the reminder... This is a good film and, it was actually filmed during WWII according to TCM's Robert Osbourne. The rubble you see, is the real deal. According to that TCM movies host, this movie was filmed shortly after the real fighting had happened.

Finished watching "Dive Bomber" - which turned out to be a very decent film but, was slow at the beginning. BTW, the Aircraft Carrier you see in several shots in the movie is none other than the U.S.S. Enterprise!

Started watching "Gentleman Jim" w/ Errol Flynn, Alan Hale Sr and Ward Bond.

I've just gotten a good copy of "Stalingrad" from a friend, watched that a few times recently. I really have a jones to see "Hell is for heroes" I know, it's kinda hokey, but I remember it from when I was a kid, and so it kinda fits in with "Battleground" in that aspect.
