Picked up this great French homefront (Défense Passive ) M-26 model . It's a genuine 1938 (liner) dated military version, and was probably recycled right after the Battle of France with insignia removed and fireman helper insignia painted on it (+ cleaning after the bombings) . It has his original liner too and comes from a small villag ein Normandy. Inside the liner was a paper with a safe coduct for the man.

Thanks KAI, it's the first time ever I find one with a red circle. Note part of the military insignia is still on the front as it appears to have rusted in the middle and one hook which broke off when it was removed is still stuck in its original position

Great pics sky, it's nice to have proofs like that. They probably came from a journal archive.

Did not expect to find this one in TN...

I know that this coat is French, from 1945 due to the labels on the inside and the buttons which read "Militaries Equipments". Picked it up in an Army Surplus Store in Monteagle TN. Still very wearable, very warm!

    And two more:

    Gustav Pressler, 1912-1985, 188. Eichenlaubträger, Kommandeur III./StukaG 2 "Immelmann"

    http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/Personenregister/PresslerG.htm

    Hans-Rudolf Rösing, Chef 7.U-Bootflottille u. Kommandant U-48

In May 1940 Rösing took over command of U-48 from Kptlt. Herbert Schultze. On the next two patrols, mostly in the North Atlantic, he sank 12 ships for a total of 60,701 tons and after his second patrol received the Knights Cross.

In July 1942 he became the FdU West, where he was responsible for all U-boats stationed in France (except the Mediterranean). In Fall 1944 he moved to Norway, where he continued to serve in this position.

Not WW2 but Indochina and Algeria war and used until the 1970s . This great coat was inspired by the German Kradmantel. It's great for reconstution for a German Felgendarme. They are worth about 60 euros

Thanks for the info Skip! Indochina would explain how it ended up in Tennessee. Us Yanks spent our fair share of time over there as well and someone could have picked it up and brought it back. Either way, still interesting knowing that it could have been used in a Brush War of those days. Thanks again!

    Nothing exotic about these : 6 Zeltbahn tent pegs just arrived from Volgograd. Fair condition, 3 dated 1938, 1 x 39, 1 x 40 and 1 is 1935....

And £2 each was OK with me......
