Here's another one: Remember my large Princes Irene cap pin? Well I finally got smallthe sleeve one . This would look great on my Tommie's Battledress. For those who dropped in the Princes Irene Brigade was the Free dutch Brigade that landed at D-day .
Next thing I will buy from this famous unit is the arm patch with Dutch LION.

Nice piece. I love these old UK badges and there are so darn many of them to collect. When I was volunteering doing the CC Museum of Sci and History in their history collections, I got the chance to do research on their collections of these and all total, there were about 300 badges with few doubles. It took me a couple of weeks to do research on them all but was enjoyable to do so and quite educating.

Inpired by Uk and worn on Uk uniforms , but it's in fact a Dutch badge worn by the 3000 Free Dutch who landed in Normandy.
The Brigade was named after the Dutch Princes Irene, the daugther of Queen Wilhemina who was queen of the Netherlands during the war.

My late Grandmother had vivid memories of this 'ghastly thing' as she used to call it. I remember her saying to me - what would have happened if she'd been incapacitated : who would have continued pumping ?

I finally found the pre-war French Colonial Medal. This was awarded to those who served in France"s colonial Empire , for instance North Africa or Indochina. They usually go with a clasp of the mentionned Colony . It is silver. it was also worn by the Free French from the 1st Armored Division who fought in Africa

Thats a nice and early piece. Usually you dont see such a silver content in awards in general. The only imperial german award I have except the 1914 EKI I have-that has such content-is one of my Hanseatic Crosses, I forget which one it is? Probably the Hamburg one.

Nice items everyone! My first purchase for about 4 months - a Deumer EK2 (sorry for the boring photos). Still has a bit of the frosting left :)

That looks really very nice. OK, maybe it's not 'sexy' ( as in diamond-studded gold-encrusted oakleaf swords and christmas tree ex Goering's personal collection etc  ) but it's the sort of stuff I like - good 'everyday' militaria which sadly now is becoming ever harder to find.....
