something new coming from a friend. SAT 5, "Robert Müller". an Artillerieträger which is a support ship with either one or two 10.5cm cannon and four 3.7cm Flak, mg 15's depth chargers and searchlights fitted. Führungsbuch which is a bit more detailed than the regular Sailors soldbuch. Received the Minenabzeichen and maybe the verwundet badge in black, there are still some unknowns about the small craft. In April of 1945 it was sunk in the Baltic by bombs dropped by IL-2's. He and the ship had quite the career serving in Holland, the Black See, coast of Belgium and then to the Ost Preußian/Baltic the last months of the war providing off shore bombardments on the Soviets along the Hela-Danzig strip while German troops and civilans wer being rescued.

    a few pics

finally looking up at the upper left of the strip one can see on the map-scan Großendorf in the Pommern which was heavily off shore bombarded by the KM one of the last open avenues for the Germans, this lasting possibly a week long.

Great one Erich , he was possibly a first hand eye witness of the last moments of the Gustlov.

His career in Holland must have been interestng too. Was he in Den Helder or Ijmuiden by any chance?

that is a possibility or some other shipping later sunk by Soviet subs and A/C in harbor.

    thanks for the Salute' Skip

in Holland we have if my eyes can read this correctly : from 23 March 1941 to 30th of April 1941 in Marinestamm Abteilung Beverloo Oestende then to Rotterdam

a pic though small and fuzzy of the Robert Müller in the Baltic 1945. Hard to see the two shielded 10.5cm's forward. single 3.7cm forward and rear plus a single 3.7cm either side of the bridge works.

Time for more research folks, I cannot seem to find this guy anywhere...........

what caught my eye was the unit though stated incomplete-he served with late war. and last actions by the squadron (staffel) on April 27, 1945.

add you thoughts as I have a couple of ideas.

another fellow from Rosenheim? wow getting interested in Bavarian soldiers. Well this gentleman was taken from school on his final highschool year (Abitur) in 1941 when he was 18. He then served for 4 years but for some reason he was still attending a Luftwaffe cadet school in 1945 . He apparently was reversed into JG5 in April 1945 when he died in its final mission . Not sure about the JG5 thing but it would make sense.

don't think it was JG 5 in this case Skip but thanks for the thoughts especially with the designation of Pz-Jagd staffel. I was thinking more of 5th staffel or II./SG ? maybe on the Ost front. I have my feelers out on this chap. As to Cadet schule as a trainer ?............his rank is too low and like you said why would he be serving in Lehr for so long.

again go back to the heading of a fighter squadron but would it be an SG fitted with the Fw 190F and Panzerblitz rockets doing the dual roles of fighter and ground attack.

I´ve found a 10th Pz-Jagdstaffel it was subordinated to the Schlachtgeschwader1 neu it was at Toloschin, Russia in 1944. The 4. Pz-Jg. Staffel was at Kursk in 1943. So i think that all of those Pz-Jagdstaffeln were units of a SG.

this was my thought too Ulrich and due to the date I am feeling it might be SG 1, 2, 3, 4, 10, and 77 equipped with Fw 190F/G and rockets to blast Soviet transport

    searching . . . . :D

though somewhat unlikely would not this be interesting if this pilot was flying high cover for Rüdels tank buster staffel in 1945?
