I think that knife is for cutting leather or canvas and was part of a "Quartermaster's Tool kit". Very cool find indeed!!!

Yesterday was a great hunt. 6 garage sales in one day and a lot of driving, but it was worth it. ! See below.

The "harvest" include an Italian mess tin, a French M-1935 cartridge pouch (the first one I ever found) , a French WW2 dogtag, a WW1 dogtag. threee patriotic medals (including a 1917 pro- Amercian one with Lafayette and Washington, the other one has Galienni on it) . A 1945 liberation area dated Communist fanion , a conscript medal, a WWI U.S. tabacco box a 1945 ashtray from Speyer, Germany, a French canteen, a box with war time dated newspapers and most surprising : a pair of Russian boots. The boots were worn by a Polish refugee who fled to France after the war , they were sold to me by his granddaughter .

may I ask what you paid for these as they are a stationery mount not used by an particular U-Boot offizier, and this could be said as well for other heavier KM ships used on the Bridge. looks in good condition how are the optics ?

Erich,I did not know that all KM ships had these. I read this type was connected to the comanders attack computer via the UZO on subs. Optics are clear. The guy would not take less than $40 for them. He weighed them and figured the scrap brass value. So I paid him $40.

Ha, ha the scrap brass value, that seller should give me his scrapyard address. I'd be rich if I could get 40$ a kilo.

40$ is a bargain price for such binos. He did not need to bluff you with this scrap story . Glad you bought them .

your glasses are one of several fitting in fact you have a hinge attafchment missing but no matter a fine pair of glasses they are. UDF = Unterwasser-DoppelFernglas. the glasses/binos have the hinge-lever for Tag und Nacht (day and Night vision), because of weight at least with attachment on the U-Boot conning tower the Binos were left in place and were used for aiming the U-Boots torpedos.

You are so right. This Sunday was pouring rain, nobody showed up.... except me, so the few seller sleft had their goodies for me whenever I got to the place even those I went to P.M. I firstly found one French M-1917 boot (these were largerly use din 1939 too) . The owner said he had forgotten the second one but gave me his address so in a few days I should ge tthe second one. Knowing how hard these boots are to find , I wa squite happy to pay .....1 euro for the shoe! (Apair is worht almost 200 in average condtion and mine is just top condition with soft leather ) .

Then I got a Winterhilfe Tiny from the Sudeten area + a medic diploma for a French medic from 1895 (both were gifts) .

Then a wooden U.S Ration "C" crate for 8 rations that was left in abarn by Patton's 3rd army with 1944 markings. The old lady asked me 10 euros for it. I checke dthe barn for more but didn't find anyhting else but empty wine bottles with 1930s labels which I suspect had been drunk by a bunch of merry G.I's.
Then I found German Oigee binos with D.R.P. markings . They were still cased too.
I also found some 1870 french military binos with "Ecole de Guerre" markings (nowadays it's a NATO HQ building).
    Pictures will follow.
Not bad for a rainy day , isn't it? Oh, yes I forgot the German medic shoulder tabs with Hauptmann rank Igot yesterday.

I love your Verbandkasten. It's the one with type II markings (late war)
