There are some WWII Ration Stamps from Tennessee they are selling down in the antique store in Cowan, TN. I am definitely going to buy them and post pictures of them up here when I get the chance. I just hope my college allowance comes in soon so that I can buy them before some other lucky kid does!! lol

Today was German day. These were all found at garage sales, not militaria fairs.

    1) another German Canister (Martin is going to love this one)
    2) a MG case, the Aluminium version and dated 1939.
    3) an absolute top condition MG42 Trommel in DAK cammo (earlier feldgrau can be spotted and the inside is brick red)

I couldn't believe it when I saw the Trommel. It still has the birdie inside. The maker + date is supposed to be on the lid, but I'm reluctant to remove the paint .

Small yet interesting grouping to a Private Reginald Wardle Easton, of R.A.S.C (Royal Army Service Corps), he was an Electrical Fitter by trade before the war and was 34 years old at the time of his enlistment in October 1940.

Reginald was captured at Tobruk, June 21st 1942, and became a POW

He was first shipped to Camp no. 65, in Italy (July/42 to June/43).

Then transferred to Stallag 344, Lamsdorf, Germany (June/43 to Jan 22nd 1945)

While at Stallag 344, Reginald was sent to Work Camp no.E711, Heydebreck (attached to 344), to work as a Electrician.

See below his replacement "Pay Book" (army book 64) - this being a Certified True Copy as his original would have been confiscated/lost when he became a POW. Also shown are his medals, his 1939/45 Star, Africa Star and his War Medal.

Note the "Certified True Copy - ex POW" written and signed by an officer at the top left page.

Yes! I have part of my Foreign Legion Uniform now. The jacket is from the 1930s and is meant for officers. I still need the shorts and boots but in time I'll get those. I have alraeady a start for my Legionnaire display . The picture is the capture of Bir Hakeim in 1942.

Another great uniform display in the making Skipper,

.....Martin, would each german carry two zeltbahn pegs? so when four shelters come together they would have eight pegs, or does one man typically carry them all?
