Don't take this as Gospel, Andy, but I've been reading everything I can find about Zeltbahns just lately....

It seems to me that every man was issued two pegs to go with his Zeltbahn, but it was usual practice among 'older hands' to get hold of a third one. The extra peg was placed in front of the Zeltbahn to tension it when used as a one-man 'mini-tent' or shelter.

I think I have a definitive answer, thanks to Armes et Militaria magazine #255, October 2006.

Under RWM document HDV 1932 No. 205/1 of 20th April 1932 ( the official adoption date of the Zeltbahn ) each man was issued with ; -

    1 x Zeltbahn 31 ( Shelter Quarter )
    1 x Zeltleine 32 ( tent line )
    1 x Zeltstock 01 ( tentpole )
    2 x Zeltpflocken 29 ( tent pegs ).

    So there you have it........:)

This set of medals from WW2. Incl Freedom Cross medal for bravery, Continuation War medal 1941-45, Headquarters Cross for people working in Hq´s ( those working in Mannerheim´s Hq got a clasp with big "M" letter ), and the Blue Cross that was given to all war veterans in the 1960´s.

At least, I shan't have to lose any sleep worrying that RRCollector will expose it as a fake.....;)

( Although, for sure, I'm almost certain that this very canister was one of those used to fuel Wittmann's Tiger before his final battle.....:D )

Much like mine which was carried around in the back of Hitlers personal staff car and was once filled up by the man himself at a Berlin fuel station....or at least that is what the militaria dealer from whom I bought it from told me!

Very nice addition to your collection, Martin. Welcome to the 'Wehrmacht Jerrycan Club'. :)

Hey mate,I have no doubts on the authenticity of the badge, I now get all my badges from klaus Butschek.....I bought 3 nice wound badges off him, black, silver(denazified) and a gold one missing most of the gold.....this was my starter into badges and got the cheap ones, around 40 bucks, they aren't perfect, but I know they are legit.....I will get more complete ones as I can afford them. The drivers badge is nice, the solider had removed The pins from the back and sewn it onto his uniform it's still has the thread on it...

There are no fake cannisters in France yet (no market) . You can still find original ones almost anywhere. (Thrown away at recycle centers, pick them up yourself at former storage places, find them in farms, barns, garage sales etc... Just to show you I say the truth Ipicke dup two within a week and poste dthem on this thread. Jagdpanther has also found his in France.
